I don't buy it, .. i am using facebook from its very existence. Their are 37 people on my list, 33 are family members. I found it a great tool to communicate and be in touch with relatives.
I think it depends on us, how we are using facebook or internet as whole !

Its absurd to call her names. She has every right to hold her opinion just as every single one of you does. I cant beleive you so-called modernist can't tolerate and respect someone elses opinion.
There is one rule about all these online social sites, its how you use it. I have seen married people on GS flirt. Offcourse they dont call it flirting, they call it harmless fun but you can name it whatever you want, its wrong. If you are posting attractive pictures of yourself here or FB, you are doing something unislamic. Period. All the rules regarding pardah you would apply to normal life should be applied to online forums/websites.

A hand is a gift to all men, that same hand can gently hold a little baby, or if used in other ways it can crumble a brick or even solid stone.
Facebook is a tool like ones hand, you can use it wisely or cruelly. Some use social networking for nefarious crime activities, others to find love, some make use of it to bully, others to make new friends.
One irony in life for me as that martial spirited "warriors" like myself are often the last person to draw thier blades or sling thier fists becuase we know all too well what happens when we do, some who claim to be pacifists and civilised are often the first to start a fight but seldom finish it, while true warriors not only fight but end fights with equall speed.
However enough with the philosophy i don't want to sound like Musashi here, suffice to say that like a sword facebook has its drawbacks but it has it's uses too.
Like any tool, learn to use it for the greater good, use it wisely...... but do not rely too much on it as a boxer can only do so much against a kicker and a swordsman can only do so much against a spear.
Stick to your own morall limits, Killing is haraam in Islam but warriors are respected even by prophets so long as they do what is right.
In the end like a warrior once said to me when i was a child, don't worry about the gun son, it's the bullet that will kill you so stay out of range.
Facebook is like a tool it is only haraam if you use it wrongly learn to use it properly or if you cannot learn it then leave it.

I didn't understand that much what face book is may be I didn't understand that much or haven't used that. I'm confused. Something from my msn opens is that face book.
But I think someone is controling that part as I change to make it personal it changes to something public. Many things add up themselves or someone.
What if someone hack your face book he can see your pictures.
But PPL use pictures and nude pictures over the internet which we see whenever whe go to internet so it makes using internet haram as in that way see nude pictures and also pictures of na mahrams even I don't want to see pictures of na mahram but ppl use it like forums and sites and every where.
Oh I'm not na mahram looking person I don't like to see na mahram pictures to see or don't go to look. We can't stop ppl to post their picture so that way it makes it haram.
You can stop yourself but can't stop others. But you see other pictures when you go to anywhere face book and other sites.
As I get message in my box to add there I see na mahram picture they ask to add. You can't stop haram thing at all no matter what privacy level you select. There is no way to stop from haram.
I wonder why random ppl ask for add in emails. Lookers will go behind you themselves why bother ppl who are not interested.
When you open face book go to home page of face book to sign in wallah there you see loads of pictures of na maharams and offers to add. Which is totally haram.
I don't say that don't use face book but you can't stop yourself from haram at all over the internet.
Even some mullah's use their pictures. Ladies who don't want to see their picture get in problem but they can't stop them.
You can't stop ads in a site or may be face book which uses unapropriate pictures.
And I didn't mention those prostitutes and stalkers.
I love using technalogy but technology is full of haram stuffs as these are controlled by haramkhors and bayhaya and baysharm ppl. And that is the main problem for muslims.
In a Islamic way you can use all technology in good cause without making it haram.
Some muslims are doing harams too and we can't control.

Facebook is a great resource for social networking and staying connected with friends... which I think is quite Islamic.
All technology is good.... Its how you use it - choice is yours, good or bad.
We must make it clear to all... Muslims..... embrace technology and move into the 21st century!!!
