with any acne product, in order for it to work, your skin will break out alot before clearing up. because what happens is that the product goes into your skin to lift out all the dirt, acne causing bacteria, etc which is why your skin breaksout. once that's over then your skin will start looking more clean.
i've tried clinique's soaps before and it was nice. it didn't improve my skin, but it didn't hurt it any way either..it was good overall.
i've thought about using proactive a number of times but i've read the reviews and they're not too good. i've asked people who have used it too and some said it's a very long process, they've been using it for a while and now it's beginning to work, and some said it makes you break out a lot at first and then clears up your skin. so..i'm not willing to do that. i might try it though, it works for some people, it might work for me.
and aveeno is great, i've been using aveeno clear complexion for a few years now.
Marwah, i suggest you go to your dermatologist and get a custom made face wash because everyone skin is different, especially if its sensitive. My skin type is not sensitive, but oily, i have my derm make a special soultion with "derm beads" it's AMAZING! everywhere i go people notice and ask me how i maintain my skin. The custom wash is a bit pricey but its worth it in the end :)
okay i've been using Murad's cleanser for a few days ago and it's not doing me any good. my skin is getting dry and flakey..but it's still oily at the same time! ugh
I LOVE Cetaphil. I have combination skin, but the dry portion of my skin is the killer. I use Cetaphil's sensitive dry face wash, and I love it. I still get redness on my face, but I'm extremely sensitive. I also use cetaphil lotion and it doesn't irritate my skin.
I trained on aveda products, and they are awesome. Though I can only use the sensitive line. Everything else burns.
If you have oily skin, make sure that you moisturize a lot. You'd think that you want to strip the oil from your face, but that is the exact opposite of what you want to do. You can spot treat acne with a salycillic solution, but otherwise apply moisturizer several times a day. Your skin is already overcompensating for it's perceived dryness with excess oil, so by adding moisturizer you are going to end up decreasing your oil production. If you don't moisturize, your glands will produce more oil.
marwah if this is becoming a major problem u should really go to a dermatologist trust me!
Products are made for the general public, skin type and textures change throughout hormone levels and time, so everyones different. I would talk to my doctor and they can make a custom made solution for your skin type, treating all problem areas. You will DEFINETLY see a difference in your skin and so will everyone around you. I used to be really conscious about my oily skin, but once i got a soultion made just for me i am constantly getting compliments on nice my skin is. Let me know if you want some more info!
i think you're right..even the facewashes with good ratings aren't doing me any good. i'll probably just have to go to the dermetologist. what kind of solution did you get?
Marwah! babes..sometimes you dont need an 'acne' wash to solve the problem..unless you have serious acne/cystic acne....you dont need to use such products...believe me....try MD Forte! for once...just try one bottle..it ll cost you $28..and will last 3 months or so...maybe more...i use it twice a day...and mine lasts 3 months...
alright chanda, if you're insisting this much i'll try it! but what will it do for me? i checked out the link, there are different ones for acne prone skin, oily skin, skin with hyperpigmentation..i need something for all of that..which one should i get?
Marwah, i told my dermatologist all my problems I had with my skin and he then makes my face wash clenser, toner custom made. Tell your dermatologist that you breakout and show him your acne areas. Then tell him what kind of skin you have whether its sensitive or not. Hes gonna examine your face and the acne. Sometimes we think we just have acne, but when you get it checked out visually your doctor can determine how severe it is. Most of the time its just normal acne, but it may be a hormonal problem causing you to breakout. When your doctor talks and sees your acne he will definetly be know what is necessary for your skin. And if your acne is really severe, he can even diagnose a hormona problem. I wouldnt trust other peoples claim for what works on their skin because most likely their skin is different. your doctor will give you somthing that works just for YOU! Dont waste your time and money on products other people tried, go see a dermatologist and seek the right help , because its your skin, people look at your skin, it feels good to have nice skin so therefore its serious to get the best help possible!:)
