Well they are making the WS-10 (offlimits to fc-1 due to its big size) but they are still having thrust problems (not enough power) with it.

My point is, you are ignorant . First, Israeli F-16s have American datalinks. Second, Israeli hardware is at par with Americans because they are made out of American technology.

Now back to my original questions…

1. What makes a fourth generation fighter better than block 52 F-16s?
2. I have dwelled on JF-17s in post 27. Where is your dwelling on JF-17?

May you misunderstood me but I meant to say PAF should 'focus' on Jf-17s as the primary fighter it will get (forget f16s as such).

And you are wrong about the israeli tech. Israel makes Arrow (better missile-defence than US has) and even UCAVs that India is buying right now!

Funding, collaberation etc you aren’t able to refute my point!

Btw, why is arrow not being deployed by US but by Israel first???

The Su-30MKI is like the most lethal fighter in service right now, though from next year planes like F/A-22 and Rafale will be ahead. Nonetheless, for Pakistan to counter the Su-30MKI, it has to get the F-16C/D Block-52+ or F-16E/F Block-60, they have dorsal fins that carry more ECM/EW equipment. The Block-60 is especially known for being the most advanced F-16 in service, and it is more advanced than USAF F-16s, the Block-60 is in service with UAE.

However, given that the U.S taxpayer is paying for Pakistan’s F-16, the Block-60 has no chance, and the Block-52+ (which can match up to Su-30MKI as well) also doesn’t stand that much of a chance either. The PAF is going to probably end up with the Block-52, the without the all important dorsal fin and built in fuel tanks. Then again, the Block-52 is better than anything the Indian Air Force operates except the MKI, so it is still a significant gap filler.

The only thing Pakistan needs from the Block60 is the APG 80 - the project which was financed by UAE, & UAE has claims over it. If UAE agrees to sell it, Pakistani may be able to acquire it.

By the way, the new F-16s coming in aren’t degraded.

That would be one of the dumbest move ever. Thank god ur not the ACM.

Jf-17 is on par with the current F-16s we have (Block15; A/B). Why should Pakistan disregard the new F-16s which are much better then the Jf-17s?

i think chances of getting grippens is good because sweddish defnce induisrty is struggling as no one is buying gripenns from them . this means a serious threat to grippen , if in the next election the government changes ( i cnt rememba wot party ) they are most likely to giv a green light for grippens

The Gripens are pretty much the same as the F-16s we are getting, except the Gripens have much better datalinks (avionics), which are also much more compatible with the Swedish Erieye AWACS. But the weapons payload of the Gripen is much lower then the F-16’s. Also, the Gripens are very expensive, and F-16s are much cheaper. Acquiring Gripens means that Pakistan will have to setup new assembly lines & infrastructure which will cost more money & time, as compared to the F-16s, for which we already have an infrastructure ready. Also, the Gripens use an American engine, meaning we will have to rely on more than one country for spare parts.

The F-16’s are a better choice for Pakistan.
