eye sight

I wear glasses n wear lenses in parties but neither I like lense nor glasses, and recently I am feeling my eyesight is getting worse I need to check it again, a friend of mine told me tht she got laser and her eye sight is now perfectly fine. any reviews I am so afraid if something goes wrong? is it safe? anyone who has experienced laser for eyesight??

Re: eye sight

Is your eye-sight stable? Its important it is stable for at least an year for good results. Thats what I've been told.

Re: eye sight

it has been from last 1 year but now I think I need to have check up agian

Re: eye sight

I think if it has been probably you can consult a doctor for a pre-appointment. He/She will be the best to advice you according to your eyes. I know someone who was advised against laser as her eyes were very sensitive and tend to dry, as one of the sideeffects of laser treatment is dryness of eyes.

You should probably also be aware that, laser treatment is not a permanent solution for everyone. My aunt didnt want to wear glasses or lenses and had the treatment some years ago (+8-9 years), but now she has a weak eyesight again and as far as I understood, she cannot go for laser again. (the last portion is something i'm not entirely sure of)

Re: eye sight

I got Lasik done several years ago and know quite a few others who have had the procedure done. Of the people I know....no one has had an issue with it. Personally for me....procedure was over in like 5 minutes and "recovery" took like 2 weeks (period where I had to be super careful not to rub eyes, no eye MU etc.). It's one of the best decisions I've made. Being able to throw away the glasses/contacts was awesome!

Re: eye sight

paheli- how bad was your vision prior to getting lasik? did you get both eyes done at the same time? do you recall the exact laser used?

Re: eye sight

^ I was like -3.45. Yes, got both eyes done at the same time.

No, I don't remember the exact type of laser used. To be honest...I didn't even ask! I chose my doctor b/c of personal recommendations.....I knew 3 people who had gotten lasik done from him and all gave rave reviews. Keep in mind that I got mine done several years back (like 5-6) so I'm sure there have been improvements/new technology since then.

Check your PM. I'll send you additional info. on the doctor I went to.

Re: eye sight

Hi Devi it would be best to consult an ophthalmologist many people have no problems but not everyone is suitable for the procedure. I was advised against it as I have irregular corneal cells and the docs dnt know what has caused it so they didn't want to do the procedure.

if I could do it I would have done it in a second, I got opinions from several different ophthalmologists as i was quite desperate to get rid of glasses and they all said it wouldn't be recommended for me.

eye sight

I’ve been wanting to get LASIK done for years, but sadly, due to my chronic dry eye issues, it’s not recommended for me :naak:

My sister had it done in Karachi a few years ago and had no issues at all

How many fingers am I holding up?

Re: eye sight

Yes, I got it done two years ago, got 20/20 vision, perfectly fine! :)

Re: eye sight

mine is -1.5 but I have to wear 24 hours , earlier I used to skip glasses on parties but recently started wth lenses on parties because it was getting more blurred, i will consult doctor lets see wht he says, i am just bit afraid

Re: eye sight

^ I needed my glasses or contacts all the time too. The only time I took them off is when I was asleep. Driving, working on the computer, watching TV....couldn't do ANYTHING without those darn things.

I can understand you being nervous about this but honestly....as long as the doctor is well trained...there is not much to worry about. The surgery itself is totally painless and is over within a few minutes. The worst part about "recovery" was not being able to wear eye MU/rub my eyes for 2 weeks and making sure eye stayed moisturized during that time.

Definitely consult with a well-qualified doctor to see what he says. Try to see if you can get personal recommendations from others near you who have had this done. :)

Re: eye sight

^ yes thts the issue here I am not able to find any personal recommendations, seems like I am the only one in my social circle suffering from eye sight issue, and then the extra expense on lenses, then obviously changing frames. :bummer:

Re: eye sight

I got Lasik eye surgery done two years ago.I was so scared ,didn't want to get it. I almost had these feelings, I 'll become blind,I used to get all negative thoughts what 'll happen if i become blind, how 'll i spend rest of my life, who 'll look after me goshhhh I used to get sad :(
Thanks to one of my best buddy, he is the one who motivated me as he got it done before me. On the operation day,I walked myself alone as i had it during week days,no one was free to go, I made my heart strong. It was so scary, I felt the pain so badly. The operation was done in an hour.Later, my sis came to pick me. First one week was really hard, I didn't wash my face for one week. For the first 2 days I felt knives and needles in my eyes. Thanks to my mum she looked after me so well, she used to put drops in my eyes four times a day and she kept herself awake for whole 2 nights so that I won't touch my eyes in sleep. I was not allowed to use mobile, watch tele , read news paper or do anything,I could only listen music and stay in bed. It annoyed me so much, I used to get angry as they warned me you 'll become angry and get frustrated so quickly.

I got so happy when after 2 days I was able to see everything so clear, felt like I got a new life. :) It has been more than two years now, Alhumdulilah it is all good. I suggest everyone to get it done. People who wear contact lenses they damage their eye sight more and it is waste of money.

Re: eye sight

You need to go for consultation first, they will tell what kind of surgery is suitable for your eyes, etc.

Re: eye sight

I don't know why DA..but laser in my eyes..irks me out. Though i wear glasses as well..but i guess..will consider getting laser surgery later on in life..

Re: eye sight

OMG, I am sick of my glasses too. I heard that with lasik, night vision is not as good as the day one.. I cannot afford to not see clearly at nights as I'm doing night school :( .. and implantable contacts.. thou they are reversible .. a rare infection can cause blindness ... uff I am so stuck :(

Re: eye sight

I tried to go holistic route too .. but with my vision, it is nearlllllllllly impossible to not depend on glasses while doing routine stuff.

Re: eye sight

I am so lost , the worst is I am feeling my eyes sight number decreasing more :(
