**Pakistani Judge Orders Blinding by Acid **

By KHALID TANVEER, Associated Press Writer

MULTAN, Pakistan - A judge has ruled that a Pakistani man convicted of attacking his 17-year-old fiancee with acid be blinded with acid himself, police said Friday.

Mohammed Sajid, 19, poured acid on the face of his fiancee Rabia Bibi on June 24 in Bahawalpur, a city in the eastern Pakistani province of Punjab. His two brothers were also convicted of taking part.

The woman lost both eyes and her face was burned in the attack, which police said followed a minor dispute between the couple.

Judge Afzal Sharif ruled Thursday at a court in Bahawalpur that Sajid and his brothers were guilty of the attack and be jailed for seven years, and that Sajid be blinded by acid, said Rana Riaz, a local police official.

The judge ordered that a doctor perform the punishment publicly at a sports stadium.

“This is an Islamic way of doing justice,” the judge wrote in his verdict.

Police said the defendant was likely to appeal his conviction and the sentence.

Violence against women, including acid attacks, are common in Pakistan, particularly in rural and deeply conservative tribal regions

Acid throwing is such a inhuman crime which is reported every once in a while in Pakistan. I think this is right justice, if you blind someone then you shouldn’t be allowed to hold on to your “sight” either.

i agree...gud judgement...

i remember some police officer in bihar jail had done something similar, to undertrail rapists...the operation was called 'ganga jal'...and sulpuric acid was poured into the eyes of the 40 criminals...they were blinded for life... dunno, what really came upon the police officer to behave like this!! but than on a planet like Bihar anything is possible.

I wonder if this judge is following the judicial laws and rules of this country.

Good on the judge :k:

*******s like these will never learn otherwise and it’s the only way to curb these sorts of crimes against helpless women.

If I were the judge I’d order for this Sajid guy to have his eyes balls slowly dissected whilst still in the sockets without anaesthetic and then have the acid poured onto them.

No, he isn't, hes just grabbing attention. The sentence will never be carried out and the perp will probably end up with a jail term.

You’re a sick man. Re-read your post, doesn’t it make you puke.

ok, it seems that the judge has acted according to the Qisas and Diyat Act. The thug Zia had enacted these laws to turn Pakistan into a complete tribla society. Althoug such culprits should be punished severely in order to protect the women in Pakistan but this "eye for eye" kind of approach is not transforming our society in a positive way for certain.

Although i dont agree with that kind of punishments (wether islamic or non islamic) but in this case there should be some thing like this or the man should be hanged.

coz he tried to be God and ruined the poor girls life for ever. so in my point of view there should be a punishment so that people like him can remember this and will atleast think once before doing this thing to any one.

As if the Pakistani judge is a great fan of Gandhi.

and AKIRA who?

Re: Eye for an eye

I seriously doubt that the punishment will be carried out.
I don’t think this is a Islamic punishment.

Would you say the same if that woman whose whole life has been ruined were your own daughter or sister?

And stop being a pussy, no it doesn’t make me puke…

though he was intelligent, but was he realistic? going by his analogy even putting evey killer behind a bar would mean that putting whole world behind a bar? use ur brain, not emotions.

and your brain says the whole world is full of killers? Gandhi's greatness (as evidenced by this quote) was his spirituality, not his intelligence. This remark shows he is using brain in a way God probably intended instead of relying on such imperfect human emotions like revenge.

isn't the whole eye for an eye punishment more of an arab cultural thing, with a FEW punishments set aside as Islamic...?

Or is it eye for an eye, for any part of your body?

so Gandhi's brain said the whole world is "eye poker"?

"eye for eye" is not necessarily "revenge". its a provision in law, if someone like this idiot above hurts someone and blinds him/her then the victim and his/her kin are allowed to either forgive him (criminal) or allow court to punish the criminal to suffer the same.

What the culprit did to the poor woman was abhorable and everybody would condemn such a criminal act. But I don't agree with the verdict which seem more like a revenge than justice or punishment. And your disgusting comments show that you are just as mentally retarted as the perpetrator himself.

I guess rules goverend by our Prophet Mohammad :saw: Such as Chorri kernaye walaye kaye haat kaatt diye jaaein… should disgust you too… rite ?

I would really like to hear your comment about this :

if someone is proven to be guilty of the crime and all the conditions for the punishment are fulfilled, there is no leniency or pardon for the perpetrator. Muhammad (saw) said, “By Allah, if Fatimah the daughter of Muhammad stole, I would cut her hand.”

Thhat's cold!
