Extramarital sex fuels earthquakes: Iran cleric
TEHRAN: A senior Iranian cleric has claimed that dolled-up women incite extramarital sex, causing more earthquakes in Iran, newspapers reported on Saturday. “Many women who dress inappropriately … cause youths to go astray, taint their chastity and incite extramarital sex in society, which increases earthquakes,” Ayatollah Kazem Sedighi told worshippers at the Friday prayers in Tehran. “Calamities are the result of people’s deeds,” he was quoted as saying by reformist Aftab-e Yazd newspaper. “We have no way but to conform to Islam to ward off dangers.” The Islamic dress code is mandatory in Iran, which has been under clerical rule for more than three decades. Every post-pubescent woman, regardless of her religion or nationality must cover her hair and bodily contours in public. afp
Mostl likley the cleric sahib suffered an “earthquake” in the pants after looking the “women who dress inappropriately”.
We in Pakistan ignore such “inkashafat” and say our prayers and leave the mosque.
the only problem is when a cleric (or cleric look-alike) encourages death and destruction of innocent people.
And our cleric sahib know, not to antagonize the regulars in the mosque. Because we pay his salary and we interviewed him on all sorts of different topics before hiring him.
I think God can punish those people and has punished nations in the past for wrongs ie the time of Loot but is nt this Imam playing Giod when he says something like this? How does he know why the earthquake happened?
He is not that original. Here are some quotes from Pat Robertson, a Christian Evangelist,
“I would warn Orlando that you’re right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don’t think I’d be waving those flags in God’s face if I were you, This is not a message of hate – this is a message of redemption. But a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It’ll bring about terrorist bombs; it’ll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor.” – on “gay days” at Disneyworld
“It may be a blessing in disguise. … Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. Haitians were originally under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we will serve you if you will get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it’s a deal. Ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other.” – On the earthquake in Haiti
Re: Extramarital sex fuels earthquakes: Iran cleric
"Clerics" such as these are the ones that have been interpreting the religion God and holy books to the general public. Look at what state such interpretations and practice has brought the world to.
You guys should make the case that it is these clerics that therefore caused God's displeasure and hence the affairs and earthquakes
i dont really know what your question is but some concepts to bear in mind:
death is not necessarily punishment
if deaths are seen as sign, as they should be, then those signs are for the living
and if rich are being sheltered from thinking about the hereafter then worry for the rich!
Re: Extramarital sex fuels earthquakes: Iran cleric
If earthquakes are caused by women dressing "inappropriately" then I wonder why countries such as the U.S. haven't been demolished by God's wrath via natural disasters.

Haha, I remember laughing my ass off when I watched this interview. Pat Robertson is such a gem. :D
Re: Extramarital sex fuels earthquakes: Iran cleric
A twisted theory from a cleric....
Followed by a twisted idea from burqaposhx... yar, those who die in a tsunami are not dumb. They are just unfortunate who have to live near the sea for livelihood. Please don't call who die in an earthquake dumb because they could not afford an 'earthquake proof' house or school.
What God has promised is.... He'll provide leaders for a nation depending on the nation's deeds. We can see that clearly!
its not about the specifics of what he said. whats interesting is the line of thought, that collective sin could be a factor in natural disasters. its impossible to rule out especially as we already believe sins effect us in this world and the hereafter as individuals
