Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered
During the previous elections PTI, JI, Baloch nationalist parties and PMLN were in coaliltion and all of them had decided to boycott the elections. Near the elections PMLN made a uturn and contested, leaving all of the rest in limbo. Anyways in bye-elections PTI won Imran Khan's seat and a couple of NWFP assembly seat. Anyways, Imran Khan's popularity has increased in recent months (whether that translates into more seats for him in the next election needs to be seen), but certainoly it is giving PMLN some sleepless nights.
Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered
Maybe you are right, imran khan might not be able to bring any drastic changes to the current system. But we cannot be sure of that unless he gets a chance. On the other hand people's party and pmln have got multiple chances and they have proven themselves to be inept, incompetent and corrupt. After giving these people chances over and over during the past few years if the people still want to go for them again in the next elections all power to them.
As far as the followers of pti being like pmln, maybe that's because many of them are ex pmln supporters. ;)
please read and then reply...

This is utter non-sense, it is only 4 years old incident and not decades old that you are trying to lie about it...
Here is what really happened...
All parties including PML-N decided to boy-cott the elections under musharaf regime ( the name of the alliance was APDM), PPP under benazir was part of that alliance, NS and BB met and later rightly convinced former to take part in Election, NS came back to the rest of the members of APDM ( other than PML-N and PPP there was not any major party in APDM, in those times, PTI had one seat in NA) and reasoned with them on the the pros and cons of not taking part in elections and tried his best to convince them, but PTI, JI, and others ( who normally do not get more than 5 seats in the assembly of 300+) refused and told NS that if PML-N takes part in elections, they will throw him out of APDM ( funny that the two major parties of Pakistan were out of APDM, what is left there, have anyone heard about it lately) any way, NS went ahead and whatever little time he had, they took part in the elections... and it was the right move, had NS not been in the parliament, NRO today might have been the part of the constitution, Judges might have not been restored ( hot issue back then)...
So saying NS ditched is plain lie built by some party who only have won only ONE seat in the their 16 years long history of parliamentary politics...
Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered

in current assembly none
in last 16 years, PTI have participated in all elections apart from 2008, and have only won one seat. That is all the representation he have got in Parliamentary level.
Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered
I beg to differ with Hanibal. NS indeed changed his position on being convinced by Zarari.
In any case Zardari and NS both does not have gerat record, Imran Khan though is unknown quantity in politics but at least some real achievement in other fields, he might attract some support like myself who has no faith in current political parties, after seeing what mullahs has done to our country longing for new leadership.

From the Platform of APDM, the suggestion was to boy-cott the election under mushy, but Benazir who was leading PPP those days, rightly convinced NS to take part in elections, so that is when NS tried to convince the other members of APDM.... but they insisted on boy-cotting.. later when BB was killed in the Liaqat Bagh, then again NS said that elections are not possible and rightly so, one of the biggest political party have lost its leader, they party need time to sort out the leadership and all those things... but when mushy govt postponed the elections a for few days and in that time Zardari got control of the party... there was no reason to not to take part in elections.
I was there, and it is not that old story that have happened some 20 or 30 years ago, even the threads on this can be found in Paklinks...
But what a lie by PTI...
Achievements of IK
1) Building a cancer hospital ( build by public money) many projects that of even better are been operative in Pakistan and other parts of the world.
2) Namal College,
3) Maybe ONE World-cup of 92 ( after losing two semifinals on earlier world cups)
4) Marriage - They still are supporting him and he supports them in their election campaign.
5) Supporting Mushy in his referendum knowing that Mushy is fully supporting US in WOT
What other achievements?
Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered
Anti ptians, (if anyone supporting Imran can be called ptians than those who spend their entire day writing against Imran can also be called anti ptians) are so desperate they will downplay any achievement of the guy. Read the bias list above.
Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered
Ptians if feels so much about IK and his achievements, then do add to the list...
Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered
unbelivablw rush... way beyond expectatios
Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered
Let me take the initiative and add more
IK is vocal about Declaring assets?
Have he declared his assets? NO, Some achievement i must say, ( IK did delcare his assets while we was parliamentarian as it is one of the requirement by law... but then everyone else have done the same, yup same way, everyone have downplayed the value of their assets, like IK have declared some 500 kanal of agriculture land in Khanewal worth Rs: 50,000, The land in ISB's subrub as gift from some unknown person, heck if this is how assets are to be declared then even a drug dealer can declare assets)
IK says there should be transparency in the country and he would bring it in the country, thing is, i agree with the earlier part of his statement, but with the later part, a man who could not introduce transparency within his party, a man who cannot organize his own party, a man who still hand-pick persons to fill designation in his party... how can the same man can bring the transparency in the complex bureaucratical system?? but yes, the statement is some achievement, isn't it?
Should i carry on!!!
Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered
hahahaha, some of the character assassination in this thread (just for the sake of it) is both hilarious and sad! keep it up ![]()
Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered

Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered
Some of your points are biased and WAY off the mark.
2)2) Namal College: (one of the most equipped university in an under developed part of the country. No mean feat
Not even worth answering after the last sentence ![]()

Whole Pakistan supported Mushy when he took over and till he lost his head and took panga with CJP. I still hope Mushy and Imran can forge a partnership.
brother, change has to start somewhere and he offers that and I, like all other youth in pakistan are alll up for it. Its highly unlikely he will penetrate in the elections enough. But he has already garnered enough voice to scare off other parties.
Re: extra 20,000 seats ordered
Can anyone please list achievements of current President, Prime Minister, Chief Ministers or opposition leaders before they acquired some sort of a position of power?

I am not a supporter of imran but of the current lot we got he is the only one clean. But for some people even winning the world cup is negative. after all the mere fact that no one else has achieved that feat does not matter. what mater is so what if he brought glory to Pakistan. Such negative thinking has resulted in where we are today.

Agreed Ehsan bhai. He is the only one that stands out. People in arab world stood up despite te fact they did NOT have any leader or material to speak of and yet they brought revolution. We should be thankful we have SOMEONE to bank on. Change has to start somewhere. And Imran is at least clean enough.
shahzad roy was performing at the procession now and said a very valid thing..

A tale of N-League somersaults
By Raja Riaz
LAHORE: **Sitting with the blue-eyed guys of living dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf — embracing the MQM is not the first summersault by the ‘champions of democracy,’ PML-N has a history of U-turns on its stance.
Noteworthy is a clause of the declaration of the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) held in London that was organised and financed by the PML-N that reads that no political party would interact with the MQM. This ‘socio-political boycott’ of the MQM was motivated, pressed and got approved with the personal interest of the N-League leadership. The reason given to the participants was that the party is the opening batsman of the dictator and had damaged the democratic norms, institutions and the political forces.
The PML-N leadership has been repeatedly saying that it would not compromise on the democratic norms and tolerate any person or group who remained part of the Musharraf administration, but its took a U-turn when it adopted a person, Zahid Hamid, who was law minister of PCO of November 3, 2007, that imposed emergency in the country that is being dubbed as ‘second martial law’ by Mian Nawaz Sharif. It does not stop here, as PML-N chief took in his folds Rana Nazir Ahmad of Gujranwala, who was an active leader of PML-Q during Musharraf regime.
The former minister of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal Gujjar is the recent entry in the party ranks. The story of U-turns goes back to general elections of 2008 when APDM decided to boycott the polls. The APDM was a political alliance consisting of thirty-two parties opposed to the military rule of Pervez Musharraf. Its noteworthy members included Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League-N, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and Awami National Party. All legislators of APDM resigned from their National Assembly and the regional assemblies seats when Musharraf’s nomination papers for the presidential election were accepted.
The major stakeholders of this political alliance, PTI, Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, decided not to contest the election. Nawaz Sharif endorsed the decision but on his return to country, his party participated in the polls. During those days he shifted his stance many times but finally took part in the process and as a result Shahbaz Sharif became the chief minister of the biggest federating unit, Punjab, with the help of the PPP.
**
Since the inception of Punjab Assembly, the N-League had been opposing taking PML-Q legislators in its folds, but the situation is different — the PML-N accepted them but in a different way. They were asked to become turncoats as a new group – Unification Block – was formed and its members became the pillar to save the Punjab government.
There’s a major change in the PML-N policy, as it had always expressed opposition to destabilising the government and had called for letting the assemblies complete their tenure. The Sharifs of Punjab were very vocal on the point that completion of constitutional tenure is a must for strengthening the democratic norms. They refused to become a part of any movement aimed at dislodging the government, but their recent move is aimed at toppling the democratic setup. The grand alliance in the offing, led by Sharifs of Punjab, is based on one-point agenda – getting rid of Asif Ali Zardari-led PPP administration, another change in its stance.
