Explosions in Mumbai

7 explosions are being reported on a railway line.
apparently 135 dead.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

Multiply by 6 for the number of Muslims to be killed in retaliation.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

You never help peace by creating an 'Us Vs Them' mentality, especially when 'they' haven't even done anything yet.

Can't you just say you are sorry for the people who lost their lives and hope that it doesn't lead to unrest and communal violence? Say a prayer, and hope for peace, will you?

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

Why dont you say a prayer? Why make me the prayer leader? I'm only here for the anthropology and to laugh at the denial some people are in.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

May those who lost their lives rest in peace, and may all the peace loving people in India defeat the cowardly terrorists by not engaging in communcal violence.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

Let's not forget Gujerat then..

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

Prayers and thoughts with the murdered and there families.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

All human lives are equally valueable. You might even find something like that stated in Quran as well ;-) Loss of innocent civilians anywhere and everywhere should be condemned without worrying about what faith the victims adhered to.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

Those buffoons in the IB department are sleeping on their jobs. The cops better start visiting the ghettoes and break some skulls. Its time to kick some ass and throw political correctness to hell. No matter what, I am sure Mumbai will be back to normal tomorrow. Go Mumbai, Go Mumbaikars.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

it might be an internal thing, don't jump the gun, there are Maoist and Tamil tigers who can be behind this, lets just wait and see.

*Blasts aimed at disrupting communal harmony: Intelligence Bureau Sheela Bhatt in New Delhi *

July 11, 2006 21:11 IST

Intelligence Bureau sources say the massive attack on Mumbai on Tuesday -- seven serial blasts on local trains when traffic was at its peak -- was to disturb communal harmony, just like last year's attack at the Ayodhya shrine was.

One top source said the blasts in Kashmir and those in Mumbai certainly seem corelated, though all possible angles were being probed.

Terrorism expert B Raman said the Kashmir blasts and the Mumbai blasts seem orchestrated by the same command and control.

Raman believes there is a strong possibility of Al Qaeda being behind the blasts and they could have been executed by fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim -- who was behind the March 12, 1993 blasts in Mumbai -- or the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e- Tayiba.

A Mumbai special court is likely to deliver judgment on the 1993 blasts soon.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

^^ not to forget Asaam guerillas. They are more thirsty of Indian blood then anyone else.

Peace and prayers for the victims.

I see Amir Khan in trouble this time along. Sanjay is too old to blame and Salman is busy with courts already. :p

**[FONT=verdana,trebuchet ms,georgia]Serial blasts rock Mumbai, 137 killed

**Tuesday, July 11, 2006 (Mumbai):

At least 137 people have been killed in the series of blasts that rocked Mumbai today.

Eight blasts took place on different railway stations in the city.

The first blast was reported near Khar Railway station in Mumbai, which left several people injured.

The incident took place at 6:09 pm (IST) in a local train from Churchgate to Borivali between Khar and Mahim stations on the Western Line.

Terror unleashed

The second blast was reported at Bandra station, while the third blast took place at Matunga.

Soon after, the fourth explosion took place at Jogeshwari, while two blasts were reported in Borivali.

The seventh blast was reported from Bhayandar station near Mira Road, while the eighth blast took place at Santacruz Station.

Police suspect that it is a pre-planned subversive plot similar to the explosions that had rocked Mumbai in 1993, 2002 and 2003.

All suburban and long-distance trains on the Western railway lines were suspended.

Police have also cordoned off the major road intersections, railway stations and exit points.

Many commuters were stranded after the explosions and additional buses have been deployed in Mumbai to cope with the situation.

"Our priority is to ensure that nothing untoward takes place as a result of the blast," said Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy.

The blasts were targeted at commuters in the suburbs. It took place in the first class coaches during rush hour.

Mumbai airport has also been put on alert.

Planned attacks

Some of the injured have been taken to Lilavati hospital while others have been taken to Cooper and Hinduja hospitals.
Many others have also been admitted to KEM Hospital, V N Desai Hospital and Bhabha Hospital.

The Home Ministry has said that the terror attacks have been planned. High intensity explosives have been used in the attack.

In its wake, a countrywide alert has been sounded. The police will be verifying the nature of blasts.

The IB is probing the link between the blasts at Srinagar and Mumbai, and also looking at possible link with PoK polls.

However, Home Secretary VK Duggal has said that there is no link between the blasts in the two cities.

The Mumbai police were also probing links between the Mumbai blasts and the seizures of two suspected Lashker-e-Taiba modules early this year.

However, LeT has denied any hand in the incident. "We condemn Srinagar, Mumbai blasts," said the statement.

Railway Minister Lalu Yadav will also be visiting the city to assess the situation.

"We will provide adequate compensation to those dead or injured. For now, local trains are being searched and we are taking more precautions," he said.

Security review

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also reviewed the security situation in the wake of the series of bomb blasts in Mumbai and Srinagar.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil, National Security Adviser M K Narayanan and Home Secretary V K Duggal attended the specially convened meeting in New Delhi.

After an hour-long emergency meeting, Patil read out a statement by the Prime Minister.

"The series of blasts in Jammu and Kashmir and in Mumbai are shocking and cowardly attempts to spread a feeling of fear and terror among our citizens," said the statement.

"My heart reaches out and grieves for all those affected by these blasts and who have lost their near and dear. I condemn these shameful acts aimed at our peace loving people," it added.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has announced a compensation of Rs one lakh for the relatives of those killed and Rs 50,000 for those injured.

He also appealed to people to maintain calm and not venture out unless required.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who will be going to Mumbai, also expressed shock over the blasts.

She also asked the Maharashtra government to tighten security measures and ensure maintenance of peace and harmony.(With PTI inputs)

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

This attack is similar to the serial Mumbai blasts.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

See the relationship between Srinagar and Mumbai -
After Srinagar, three blasts rock Mumbai

MUMBAI: On a day when Srinagar saw six blasts in the morning, Mumbai was shaken by three explosions in quick succession on Tuesday evening.

The target was clearly the evening rush on the city's local trains. The first blast occured in a first-class compartment of a local train near Khar station. The train was going from Churchgate to Borivili.

The second blast took place soon after at Mira road station, while the third occured at Matunga station.

Reports said the Khar blast blew the train compartment to pieces. But there were no early reports of casualties, but several people were reported to have been injured.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

Not everybody's. It is obvious who rr not praying for the victims.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

^ Those people are ignorants, I don't look at it as a Muslim or Hindu thing, i look at it as innocent people who got killed. i mean think about it, they had kids or a wife or a husband or a mother or father, who probably needed there income or support to live on, so if you multiply the affects then its horrible.

i feel bad for all the victims.

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

Why all the fuss?

3000 Muslims were burnt alive in Gujrat, the perpetrators still run wild, I never heard moments of prayer and peace for them...

And they aren't going to get any justice either...My prayers and sympathies are with them...

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

my prayers are with all the victims, in india, in lebanon, in Israeal, In irak...
everywhere where stupids are killings my prayers are with the innocent civilians killed...

but NOT if they supported communal violence, as all extrmists/conservatives do

i pray for all the modern innocent souls...not the extremists supporting violence who only got the martyrdom they wished!

Re: Explosions in Mumbai

Lajawab, i m not taking sides here, of course i have the same feelings for those people who were burned alive in Gujarat, (and trust me I've seen video's and pics of those,) i think we should start putting humanity first, so that we can co exist.
