Explanation of the Pakistani caste system..

Re: Explanation of the Pakistani caste system..

Maybe only specific punjabis use the caste system? I'm punjabi and I had never heard of this system in Pakistan until I joined this forum actually. And thats including all my punjabi relatives like all 400 of them, no one I know speaks of caste. I know there are some tribal names like rajputs etc but they only talk about that as like an ancestry thing.

Re: Explanation of the Pakistani caste system..

Can we just make it easy and point out whose anti punjabi and whose not?

Re: Explanation of the Pakistani caste system..

sounds like my family...lol! i had a very heated discussion with my mamoo once over this..he was trying to convince me that because both my nani's mother and father were Syeds' she's double blessed or on higher level or something, and that I should consider myself lucky that my father's family is Syed and that I have such an exalted blood line...ummm...Say What?!?!?! It's all rubbish to me...My mom's side of the family (totally old school hyderabadi) also subscribes to the pir/murshad/random fatihas for everything version of Islam...it's actually quite comical...lol!

Re: Explanation of the Pakistani caste system..

Youve got the wrong end of the stick. key word in my post = "Generally". No where did i say that punjabis as a people are all like that. Punjabis also love to remark about how urdu speaking people are snobby but im not gonna have some vendetta and say ALL punjabi people are like that. The two people that i mentioned in my post, maybe they are representative of punjabis, maybe they arent im just basing my statement on punjabis ive come across. I admit its not a very good basis for it however. I just mentioned the two people in my post as a side note. It could be down to individual charateristics or family background. Ive always said the caste system is irrelevant in the 21st century and i stand by that. But thats a topic for another post
