You know I’ve never come across this Pakistani caste system which makes me wonder if it truly is a Punjabi thing…I’ve seen countless marriages being arranged in my family and not once have I heard any of the elders talk about caste/surnames.

Yes, I think the whole caste system is a very Punjabi concept. I haven’t heard non-Punjabi’s every discussing it.
