It’s not just Desi people here in the UK there is an established tradition of people keeping old hierlooms and Antiques.
I guess the Oldest articles in my possesion must be a very old copy of the Koran hadwritten by a Zaidi scholar in Mughal days., a sword that dates back a few centuries it’s forged out of wootz and pre-dates 1896 for sure and a matching bow and gorytos which are actually no older than 1914.
I also have my collection of books which are also very old and yes i’ve still retained some old footage of Islam’s holiest places much of which are now sadly erased.
I must have the oldest Motorola pebble shaped handset in the UK which is the Motorola V235 andwhich has proven to be as resilient as anything since it has been my phone of choice since my Lebanon adventures.
I’m sure theres other things as well… for those interested i have a first edition copy of Atiqs practical English guide circa 1950’s.
Oh and a Mi24 and original AK47 operators manual.

Muje tho apnee zuban bohat pyaree lagthee hain... lekin sach poocho tho Potwari aur Pashto hum ko Urdu se ahsaan athee hain....
Waissay zuban ka farq muje tho koy masooos naheen hota.... dil admee ka acha ho tho beshak agar wo swaheli be bolna shuroo karde tho phir be muje koy harj naheen.
Aur zuban ka farq ya shakal aur saroot ka farq mien naheen dektah dil aur deen ka saaf ho tho mera yaar ho.

I have a double barrel shotgun of my grandfather he bought in 1930. And my father says its a nishani of my grandfather so can’t sell it. Infact it’s in a working condition, created some fireworks on this Eid.
