explain the phenomena

Re: explain the phenomena

If it's Pakistani made then thats also very good what calibre if its 12gauge or more then it's possible it was British service issue for Police and security forces.

I doubt it would be a trench gun as such weapons were mostly of the First World War era, though it's perfectly possible such weapons continued to be used particularly in the former empire long after that conflict.

Hats off to your father for keeping it... look after it it's very valuable you were holding something worth thousands of dollars potentially especially if its army issue.

If its a private or domestic weapon then it's value would still be high especially if decorated.

Re: explain the phenomena

We don't want to throw away money!

Oldest thing? hmmm, my grandmother?

Re: explain the phenomena

It's American made and it's 12 guage. It's not a trench gun. A stamp on it says: STEVENS Savage Arms Corporation, Chicopee, Mass, USA. There is a logo of a hunting dog in mid air. I asked father about it and he says that grandpa bought it from a British officer.

I'll post pics later.

Re: explain the phenomena

Wow thats great, if it's made by Savage it's the same firm who made the rare revolver that fired shotgun shells... Savage is a very old firm. They have been making guns since the Civil war era and even before.

Sounds like a real gem of a gun no wonder your Grandpa wont let anyone sell it.

It's just a little odd how such a weapon was in Pakistan so early on, back then the British were the main arms suppliers and the Yanks made many small handguns but few of thier rifles or shotguns were exported until the latter half of the 20th century.

Re: explain the phenomena

You have a very good knowledge of firearms. Firearms are a passion or a job for you?

I’ll double check the year it was bought wid my Taya.

Sorry for the crappy quality. I was using my cell.

Re: explain the phenomena

No footage is great quality.

And lets just say with regards to my past and firearms were as much a tool of my trade as any other thing. I guess it's a passion as well but i used to have to be able to recognise them so well i couldtell the difference between rifles by just hearing them alone. Besides i was required to have a working knowledge of at least sixty of the worlds small arms just to pass the qualifications.

Our nation has perhaps the best light infantry in the world but it is a shame they are among the worst led.

Mind you thins will change sooner or later.

I advise you look after the shotgun it's worth a lot maybe it will come usefull someday, it's worth it's wieght in gold.... in America that would be a much sought after item becuase Savage weapons were made in very small and limited quantities. Savage were a very reliable company but they were expensive so most troops carried cheaper winchesters and henry marques.

Re: explain the phenomena

Interesting … I thought it was worthless.

Well I’m a weapon enthusiast kinda but lame one. I might make use of your knowledge. I’m planning on buying a handgun and a guy offered me a beretta 9mm copy. This one:

It felt pretty good and looked exactly like the original beretta but I wasn’t happy with the barrel. Seemed like salvaged from something. Do you have any idea about these handguns?

Re: explain the phenomena

Oh yes i'd advise you in pm my friend some might get the wrong idea...

Re: explain the phenomena

oh yeah....

just remembered... my dad still has his first b/w car pics :)
