exercises/workout

I am just wondering what kind of workouts do you folks do? and i would love to hear any experiences you might wanna share.

I have finally realized that I cannot stick to a pre-thoughtout set of exercises everyday. I have to change my exercise routine or else I get bored of it and quit easily. Attention span of a gnat. sigh

Some days I jog (in my backyard), other days I walk. My friend just sent me a book on Yoga, gonna try that. I try to do crunches(form of sit-ups) regularly. Aerobics, dance aerobics. Jumping jacks, and jump-rope. Tennis/badminton is rare(if my friend asks me to play). Thats the usual. Someone suggested pilates to me, but I have yet to incorporate that into my routine.

What do you do?

mostly cardio stuff at the gym..whenever i have time.. the thing i realized it the only stuggle i have to do is to get my ass in the gym.. the rest is easy.. its the will that takes lot of effort :)
plus work out is a good way to release stress or if u need time to just think about things :)

A few of us at work usually get together and do some sort of a workout...depending on what everyone's in the mood for.
We vary between Stress relief yoga, Power Yoga, Pilates, Tae bo, Ballet and just plain old running on the tread.
As Suroor said, the hardest part is going down to the gym. Once you're changed and ready to start, it's actually quite relaxing. It takes your mind off of other things in life...be it work, studies, or anything else. The best thing would be to work out as a group (even if it's 2 or 3 people).. it really motivates you. :)

I used to do Taebo before, watching billy blanks and all but that only lasted for a couple of weeks. Now I just dance crazy on Jazzy B and Abrar, its actually really good. NACH PUNJABUN NACH!

Munni, i am trying to do research/readings on the topic to design a variety for myself :) Do you really wanna know what i do currently..hehehe. I mop the floors at work 8/9 times a day volunteerly..coz according to my philosophy..anything you do..you are burning calories. Mopping does add upto 45 minutes or more. I do many other things that add up.

Things i do from time to time: i love to walk in the summer time. I used to walk to work and its 3 km walk from my home. I do play racquet ball seldomly with one of my sibling and used to do cycling with him at night in a parking lot of a mall in circular motions..coz i forget to do proper cycling on roads as i never touched bi-cycle for 7 years. Its fun..specially in rainy season of fall. Oh and how can i forget my all time favourite..jumping on trampoline. Its fun too..hahaha. Also from time to time when i am in a mood..i practise some kicks and blocks that i remember from age 11 taekwondo class.

CB, i'll definately look into some of the options that you mentioned.

LM, yes..i agree nuch punjaban nuch is a great dancing song :)

I agree with CareBear. Working out with a couple of people definitely boasts motivation, it's sorta like you are all in it together. I love Taebo! :)

ab the only workout i do is angraiyan when i wake up :hehe: and walking to class waghera :bummer:

cardio is good for weight loss, but if you want to tone and lose... kickboxing is awesome..I love it!

  1. you lose track of time whereas on the treadmil you count every sec.
  2. Its actually fun and you sweat allot more
  3. the awesome feeling you get the next morning when everything hurts.

i exercise at least 4 days out of the week…i do cardio, crunches, and stretches.

I am an exercise freak. I do free weights at the gym. I also have a threadmill in front of my 53" TV. I am always running while watching the daily drama on Prime. I am so fat-free that I have to keep eating every 3 to 4 hours.

I excercise 3 or 4 times a week. Usually try to tone my body as much as possible by weight training as well as doing about 20 minutes of cardio each time after the workout. Once you get into the routine of going to the gym or working out, it's impossible to stop.

i do most of my excercise at the gym, currently i'm working mostly on the cardio equipment as i'm working on loosing weight. you know stuff like the treadmill, bike, rowing machine, rotex e.t.c.

when at the gym i always aim to get 1 and a half done on the cardio eqpuipment, then it's the fun stuff, the weights for about an hour.

try and get situps done every night too, but some nights i'm just so knackered i dont end up doing them :)

kickboxing sounds cool....might try it out later.

I have never been to the gym alone, only because I know I'll be done after 5 seconds. I need people to keep me motivated, especially since I'm always the first one to tire. Always remember to stretch, I like going on the bike, stepper and rowing and a few laps on the track to warm up. I saw these meditation/yoga classes at the gym the other day that don't conflict with my schedule (finally), I'm planning to go to it next week, lets see how that goes.

hayaa, go for it..seriously yoga is so much fun..i bought a DVD and i love doing it..plus i started a yoga class at work..it was so much fun..you'll love it. The good thing about it is kay you do everything at your own pace..no rush..very smoothly. I find it very relaxing.

used to do yoga regularly....did it for about a year...
it was very relaxing and i actually found myself turning very flexible!
now i don't get a lot of time...just do dancing for an excercise.

I can be quite irregular in workout routines; although, I have good endurance, and there are certain "litmus test" which kinda tells me how physically fit I am. Contrary, to many of you, I almost always workout on my own, and try to commute by bike as much as I can. Another reason maybe, I just go out and do it, whenever I feel like it. The days I am feeling incredibly jumpy, I may just hop on a bike and ride it for kms. Those who are looking for a great way or getting into shape, I suggest getting a bike.

My workouts are always cardio related- jogging, hiking or mountain biking. I need to workout more on my legs, such as squats, and more situps abdomen, to train for something coming up in couple of months. But, alhamdulillah, I am grateful for all the good physique and there's no feeling like after getting a great work-out. So, happy work-out to all :)
