For all you people relying on weights and/or machine-oriented workouts, nothing beats swimming. It's quick, no equipment (well hardly, but that depends on ur personal preference wink), and is prolly the best thing for the 3 S's: Strength, Stamina and Suppleness.
So that's almost become a must here; in addition I row (machine, not 'canoe') for the upper body and go on the treadmill for cardio and lower. The 5-day rotation goes swimming thrice and row/treadmill twice on alternate days. No messy weight sheight systems here.
I can relate to outlaw here, working out on your own comes quite easily too, and although I more than welcome company I don't really need to surround myself with ppl as a pre-req for working up a sweat. That's what sports are for.
Rowing treadmill and a few weights. 5 days a week does the job and stretching afterwards is a must. One thing I find is that if you can get it in early as possible it gives you a real boost for the rest of the day. Loads of energy and you feel less inclined to eat junk food as well.
outlaw, there's nothing better like outdoors :) Do you commute by bike even in winters?
Diablo Kazama, that's a neat workout :)
Mr Xtreme, you are so right about the morning exercises..i have witnessed it myself..also if you notice how grandpas do morning walks in backhomes..i think its because of those walks that they are more healthy as compared to many uncles in their 50's.
Simply running.....for 45 minutes...none stop. Before this I tried, weights, swimming, pushups etc. But the best is running or if you are old then brisk walk. I started with 15 minutes and now I can go max to 1 hour, Alhamdollilah. A good 10 min strech is also helpfull.
da advantyg iz big, you can do it in gym or outdoor. It burns callories, good for keeping yourself in shape, increase stemina big time, makes you love food, you can eat anything you want without any worries for fat, sugar etc, no heart problem inshallah in your life, make you sweat like anything which is very necessary in cold countries......the list go endless.
i start off with eating salad
and then i walk all the way to mcdonalds and get mozerrala sticks extra cheese
then i run down to the cafe to get scrambled eggs extra cheese
to end my workout i buy king size milk shake and drink it all the way back
smooth_guy, wow..keep it up :k: well, i do jog+walk in summer time..but i enjoy walk more..i can look around..i can wonder..i can think..i can take pictures..i can smell the air and flowers
Gamma, hehehe..yummy..which milkshakes?..chocolate shakes are the best..one time i used to eat french fries and drink chocolate shakes every day.
Its nice to see desi girls sharing ideas about working out. When I was young I used to workout six out of seven days. Now that I am old and gray I still workout 3 days a week. It’s a habit…more like a need than an obligation. You gotta do it for urself..if you are doing it for someone else then forget it… :-p It’s the best treat you can give to ur body…
So who wants motivation? ..raise ur hand!! I have failed miserably with Munni but I haven’t lost hope :)
Qrius: the answer is yes. It rains almost six months out of the year in winter, and i just dig biking in cold rain..one gets pretty dirty with all the mud, sweat and splashing water; as long as i know i can take a shower and change-wherever it maybe- when I am finished riding; I don't really mind..
Qrius Baji, if your like me and hate working out in front of everyonr (cuz I'm rythmless) then you should sooo get MTV's Body Rock and Yoga videos. The BD does cardio, kickboxing and Lil Yoga and the YOga videa is fun cuz your learning so much you dont realize what a workout you had until the morning after.
Here are the covers, both can me found on amazon.com

BoSS: yeah desi girls care about health too..specially these days when you see all the people around getting into health problems/getting diseases coz of non healthy lifestyle..you are bound to take care of yourself. Hoonh, you are not old. So, what kind of motivation are you giving? i am always interested :)
PakistaniAngel: i already do ;)
outlaw: thanks :)
Muniya, DVDs are fun...i am gonna build a workout library from time to time. Btw, according to my research its cheaper to buy workout DVDs at walmart than amazon..Have you ever tried those dummies series?
Praetextatus: how much time do you spend running after trains..and how much do you spend in squash..and what kind of meditation do you do?
lastknightess, will video clips of several workouts do? i am willing to share my research..my motto is: if its not free..its not for me :D
People I am impressed. You all are so good. The only exercise that I do is to go up & down the stairs (5 stories) once or twice each day , 5 days a week.
roshnie, actually i will count it as an exercise..coz climbing stairs is aerobics..and if you check the calorie burning chart..you'll see that climbing stairs does burn a lot of energy :)
