Please pray for a sick.
Pray for a needy.
Pray for peace.
Pray for your parents and family
Pray for better life and being able to help other human being.
I don't see why praying for all of the above and praying for a sports win have to be mutually exclusive... and nor do I think that adding a "seemingly" small wish to your prayer list will dilute your entire prayer. God is all-knowing and in His infinite wisdom, he knows what wishes to grant and what not to. A sports win might not mean much to one person, but for another person it symbolizes national victory and hope... and praying for hope and victory isn't really wrong.
In the end, it may be more or less meaningful to different people. Why impose your own sense of significance on other people?
