An important thing to remember is that Musharraf will continue to exercise his Presidential powers when he retires as COAS, to sack any military chief he wants, when he wants, and without the need to seek anyone’s advice/approval i.e. the PM or Government etc.
So here’s to the ‘President and Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan’ Pervez Musharraf .

Since the petitions have been dismissed. There's no issue with the president holding the COAS baton. The only problem is that Gen Musharraf himself had said he'd shed his skin if/when elected. However Malik Qayyum has said a few times that the Gen can hold his COAS office as long as the new elected Pres does not appoint a new Chief. Now that raises a point.The CJCSC and VCOAS retire on 6 Oct. We can expect the names of the new VCOAS and CJCSC soon. However that will have little direct relation with the name of the new COAS; which might (hopefully) continue to be PA 6920 Pervez Musharraf, General.
And so we can expect the names of the new VCOAS and CJCSC announced in the next few days, and those names will not necessarily include the name of the new COAS, which could either remain the old stale Pervez Musharraf, or a new one announced till 15 Nov and perhaps even later as there'd be no hurry as Pres Gen Mush newly elected for 5 yrs and still COAS will be at liberty to stay as COAS until he nominates the next one.

Haris here is an exercise, write all these probable names on a piece of paper, and then figure of degrees of seperation they have had from certain ppl, like Gul. You may find your answer.

Btw, I also feel that Gen Mush has often followed a pattern with names; he seems to appoint ppl with names similar to any of his previous competent appointees. Gen Ahsan, Gen Ehsan. Lt Gen Mohd Aziz, Lt Gen Shahid Aziz. Tariq Aziz, Shaukat Aziz. Lt Gen Tariq Waseem, Lt Gen Waseem Ahmed. Lt Gen Tauqeer Zia, Lt Gen Javed Zia. Lt Gen Javed Sultan, Maj Gen Shaukat Sultan. Lt Gen Shafaat, Maj Gen Shafaat. ex DG ISPR Maj Gen Rashid Qureshi, ex Info Min Sheikh Rasheed. Gen Mohd Yusuf, Maj Gen Mohd Yousuf. Gen Ahsan Saleem Hayat, Lt Gen Ahsan Azhar Hayat. Shujat Husain, Mushahid Husain. This way Pervez, Pervaiz doesn't seem too unlikely :D

Musharraf will transfer control of core Corps to his Commander-in-Chief position, and I believe also to make sure that every senior promotion or posting/transfer in the military subject to Presidential approval. Then he will take his wardi off on 15th Novemeber. :)
