The first twenty minutes of this game was a clinic, France dominated this game. England's goal was a beauty however.
I don't think either France or England can win this tournament if they produce similar football in future games, especially the knock out stages. However, I do expect Henry to kick back in gear and then France will be rolling.
England too have much to be proud of, and Owens will surely bounce back. With Rooney's speed and Owens knack for scoring, this could be a dream pair. Don't be surprise if these two teams meet again in the final. At the same time, if I'm a supporter of England I would rather this result in the first game of the tournament rather than the last.
Zizou has proven why he is the greatest player of our generation, better than Cruyff, Maradona, Ronaldo, Beckham, etc. Perhaps only Pele can match his greatness. The man has done it all.
Yup … France was applying intense pressure from the minute the second half began. Like I said before, it was only a matter of time before they scored. 
I also think they deserved to win. England was not robbed at all.

Well ingerlund have always been crap in Europe, I think they've only ever won about 5 games, so I was actually rootin' for 'em. But then they never produce sexy fooootball so it aint much fun.
England will still get through. They don't play sexy football and never have, but they have a very good defence and a matchwinner in Rooney. Add that to good dead ball moves and they can do ok. They just don't look very good when they actually have the ball.
X, pleaseeeee don't call Rooney a match-winner........ur insulting Zidane by saying that. Now HE is a match-winner as we've all witnessed.
Rooney is just an overrated player; no skill; no technique; no insight....just pure agression....with him u always have the feeling he won't be seeing the end of the match: he's like a Gattuso, but then as forward
as the commentator said: Last season Rooney collected more yellow cards than he scored goals.....i think this says enough about his class.

Ingerlund have played sexy football in the past and have the players capable too to play it again, but prefer to employ the 'defense' and long balls in approach... it hasn't wrked in Europe ever...hello wake up!!

England always plays the long ball. Bekham and Gerrard love to loft the ball long from one end to the other. Their not much of a team to bring it down with small passes.
ENGLAND made a decent start to their euro 04’ campaign but again it was that freak moment of error that cost us, lampard took his goal very well, we were playing good football through out the 1st half and sol campbell especially ledly king hats off to the guy came into the starting x1 cos of injury to john terry and he had a magnificent game, he kept henry @ bay, which is very hard to do given the ease with which he torments defenders, steven gerrard and paul scholes kept the ball and passed it in deep pretty well to wizzkid rooney who also had a dream start to his 1st major.
only mickey owen looked lacklustre and i was surprised to c that??? coming to rooney’s moment of brilliance, that was quite something, he turned thuram {one of the world’s best defenders} with ease, skinned him for pace andmr takla silvestre can thank the murgha that he wasn’t sent off for that foul.
becks’ ahhhhhhhh!!! fabien barthez’s task was made easier for him as becks’ he shaped his body and his foot towards fabien’s right hand side and that gave it away!!! although he struck the ball cleanly his body movement gave it away for fabien barthez who made a gr8 save no doubt about it. if only that ball had hit the top corner we would’ve had em’…
only zidane’s brillaince earned france a desperate win which even their players admitted after the game was a terrible performance by the french players, lizarazu and silvestre were praising the english defence for holding out trezeguet, henry, pires and co’ so well for 89+ minutes.
our lads let the occassion get to them and the 2 error’s near the death proved to be costly. 1stly heskey sahab where is his game gone?+ he didn’t need to give the free kick away which led to the equaliser when clearly ashley had the ball covered.
after that equaliser we just panicked and gerrard topped up the eveing for us with a costly back pass which james could do nothing about, he was in no position to smother the ball or kick it away. henry had a yard off space over james, he had to lunge in warna henry would’ve scored.
zidane proved why he is world class by converting the spot kick in style and adding salt to our bare wounds

but take nothing away from england we deserved to win the game or get a result from it losing was a shock. but hey atleast we gamve the frencha run for their money, we made them sweat HARD…

you’re one-nil up…playing ten against eleven…and u can’t even control the game 
England left the initiative to Switzerland. You go two-nil up, still the same story…you go three-nil up and still you don’t dare not having eleven men behind the ball.
Against the Swiss you can get away with it…against France you don’t…i won’t be surprised if England get knocked out by Spain/Holland/Fance/Germany in the next few rounds
The thing that strikes me is that this is the first time under Eriksson that England have scored in second half of a major tournament match. That highlights their inexplicable contrasting strategies in either halves. In first half they play attractively with the intent to go forward and attack and in second half they usually sit back and defend; had to pay dearly for that against France.
Micheal Owen is sadly out of form though he set up Rooney for the first goal. Beckham is in full form with his pin point passes and free kicks (not so with penalties). I fail to understand why England hesitate to exploit Lampard and scholes long range shots capabilities.
Anyways France Croatia match doesnt look like a nail biter or anything of that sort. It seems like a typical run-of-the-mill clash with predictable winners. Hope it turns out to be an interesting one though...

About today’s match; fairly average performance … no1 really shone today. I don’t think the current team is championship material, they should get through to the quarters though.
