Re: epidural?
Epidural is an injection into your spine....they do this during labor but not late labor. Since you have to remain very still when the needle goes in, they dont like to do it late in labor. They also dont like to do it too early on since it can slow down or stop the labor. I used to know the stats - dont quote me - but its something like around 6cm dilated that is a good time to do it. I never had one, got thru without due to my fear of needles. But I did have half a dose of Nubain in my IV and this helped muchly. Others say that epi is just the best - no pain at all but IMHO the pain really wasnt all that bad, the nubain got me thru and I didnt have to worry about the side effects of epi. Whatever you decide, many best wishes to you!

when it is injected ??late in delivery process?
Re: epidural?
I think it was around 4-5 cm.
I was not opening, so after 4 days of labor I was given some infusion to speed up labor. That was so painful, thats when they gave me the epidural. thank God that is. After that I relaxed and had a normal delivery.

From my experience its not worth the risk...I had it with my first child and as the Doctor may have told u its almost like an art mixed with doctory...it is given according to your height...I would say if everything is going normal and u dont need a C section then dont...opt for some of the other non invasive options. Because of the one I had ..my back still hurts I spent like years with the back if I worked too hard and finally on my second baby..I didnt want it...(but was asking in the end...was too late by then:D)...but I also had a really good nurse ..so she stopped me too...but without it I felt normal pretty quickly :)..then again my experience:)
Re: epidural?
giving birth is so scary
Re: epidural?
But u get quite a reward…A spankin new BABY:)
Re: epidural?
^:hehe: nice way of putting it:vivo:
and then follow the sleeples nights etc etc.![]()
Re: epidural?
The last time I had epidural I didn't want it to wear off
even after the baby had been delivered. I felt so light and comfortable,
almost the feeling of floating in the air.
Ps: I'd rather not share my experience of having it the first time. Let me just tell you being in labor for over 24 hours is not a pretty sight.
Re: epidural?

Re: epidural?

Re: epidural?
You are right. They should experience it on their own. ![]()
Re: epidural?
yes they don’t let you eat or drink even when you are extremly thirsty
and are constantly throwing up during labor. ![]()
Instead they offer you ice to chew on or let you have sips of gingerale
but if you ask for sprite instread they are lenient enough to provide it.
