English Language Accent complex

I have this question…why desies living abroad mostly settled in UK, USA and Canada etc have this language complex

Most First generation parents brag about their children lack of knowledge of urdu…and are very happy that their children speak ENGLUSH like Goras.

Also, I have seen many second generation kids who have this extreme hate about their origin etc etc.. On the other hand the Arabs and Turk immigrants and their generations are very proud of their culture and language.

Could it be inferiority complex in south asian?

I would appreciate viewer’s input

Thanks

Re: English Language Accent complex

What do you know about Arab & Turkish people,.. they are worst then Desi's when it comes for Culture. Better get your facts right :)

^ Yup that is actually true. I have seen Arabs have worst complex.

This is an individual thing anyway. Very difficult to generalize.

Dead Wrong!

I am sure you have not mingled with these nationalities.

Arabs are Turks have very strong nationalism unlike southasian (Pakistanies & Indians)

Anyways what do u think of the issue i raised...

My opinion is that it could be that once we were ruled by the English and perhaps out of their dominance over our ancestors....a lot of us have lower self esteem when it comes to ethnic pride specially taking pride in speaking our national language and teaching them to our kids.

OKey, any proof, or is this your own twisted-opinion :)

i thought u like being an arab. :p

kher...BL, where did u get this idea that arabs love to follow their ideology. lol.

i still do ...that part :D

Lets move forward and talk on the prime subject of my thread.

Thanks

LOL.. you just gave an verdict and then can't even provide a source and.. then saying.. lets move on.. :)

Why you even open a thread when you can't even back up your claims..

Get over it, you are not the only one with all-the knowledge & information !

:ast: buchpan main parents nay aik mara hota to pachpan main yeh haal nahi hota.

and the ironic part is you do know that its not good :smack:

that would be a deviation from the core subject of my thread
Its not an arab vs turk vs South asians

Lets be focussed.

Thanks

we are talking about their culture in west.. not in their respective countries. .

Re: English Language Accent complex

why are desis born and raised and living in pakistan unable to speak urdu (or whatever their maternal language is ) properly? and instead insist on speaking english..poorly, or mixing english and urdu etc and speaking that yet still poorly.

Yaara first...provide source for your claims.. then we will move ahead.. ;)

true, thats because we think that if we use more English then people will take us as more educated and Polished.

Re: English Language Accent complex

Even in United Nations, many foreign leaders speak their own language and Don't feel ashamed of it...

but in Pakistan we have this " OMG he cannot speak English Properly....OMG he has an accent"

Desies competing desies...each trying to me more Anglo saxon than the other...

lemme dig up one of my old threads you may find interesting.

Re: English Language Accent complex

Other than that, urdu has accquired a lot of English words....we cannot reverse that now.

its true but let me give yiu one example, in karachi the urdu dictionary board has a big sign that says urdu dictionary board both in urdu and english. Now I am a farangi yet even i know in urdu it should be somethign like idara-e-urdu lughat or isara e lughat e urdu.

I am not a stickler usually but the fact that it was the urdu dictionary board made it ironic.

anyway here are some old threads you may find interesting

it seems like you are going to the next phase in those discussions and looking at desis in the west..or east if we count australia

Re: English Language Accent complex

to throw in my two cents worth of generalization, usually it is people who cant seem to get a good grip on english who start with such theories to make themselves feel better.

"it isnt that my english sucks ass, it is that i am vary in touch vith my kultchar"
