Feels great to be right all the times!!!!:D
wat a beauty of a test match it was @ the headquarters of cricket, the 1st test of the brit season and a classic, 5 days of pure excitement and wonderful batting + bowling + gr8 crowds on all days :k:
i was very happy for andy strauss, wat a magnificent debut he had, he couldn’t have wished for a better start to his test career and 2 hit a ton and then coming close to a 2nd ton in the 2nd innings @ lords his home ground {middlesex} was something special for him and his wife cheering him on.
hussein in his interview suggested dat he might retire as he didn’t want to jeopardise any young cricketer’s career { the like’s of collingwood, strauss, key, bell etc} as botham sahab had suggested he was doing
i wish nasser stays around for as long as he is batting well and i hope ppl realise he is being picked on merit i don’t c how he is hampering any other young cricketers career and i hope he gets 4 more caps to get 100 test caps under his belt he deserves that much after taking so much criticism from the mass-media, the supporters and fromex english cricketers like botham.

I hope he quits. I just hate it when players start this “oh I’m quitting” drama and don’t leave and have to be kicked out in the end.
**Hussain could call it quits **
Nasser Hussain has hinted he may consider retirement after leading England to a seven-wicket victory in the first Test against New Zealand.
“Today at Lord’s might be a good day to be your last,” Hussain told BBC Sport after an unbeaten 103 at Lord’s.
"I’ve got to go home and speak to my dad, see what he thinks and see what Nasser Hussain wants to do.
“There’s a lot of soul-searching and a lot of thoughts to be done in the next 24 hours.”
Hussain’s 14th Test century was his first ever in the fourth-innings of a Test.
He described the experience as “one of the more enjoyable days of cricket I’ve ever had.”
Hussain, 36, added: “To do it at Lord’s with the crowd, to win it for England, to walk through the Long Room, it is a boyhood dream.”
However, Hussain’s spot in the XI was placed under pressure after Andrew Strauss struck a first innings century, making his debut in place of injured skipper Michael Vaughan.
In the second innings, Hussain shared a century partnership with Strauss, although he was responsible for running the debutant out for 83.
Nevertheless Strauss, who gained the man-of-the-match award, was overjoyed after playing a key part on his home ground.
“I’m running out of words to describe the last few days,” he said.
"To play a Test was fantastic, to score a hundred was unbelievable and to win was even better.
“I’ve enjoyed every moment, enjoyed scoring runs and being part of a really good victory.”
Stand-in captain Marcus Trescothick paid tribute to Hussain, saying: "To have him and Graham Thorpe at the crease made a huge difference.
“It was a tough time to come in but he showed the experience he’s got,” said Trescothick, who was already out when the former skipper joined the fray at 35-2.
“It was a pretty tough wicket and they bowled well but it was really nice that we’ve seen them off easily.”
Stewart’s two cents.
**Stewart pleads with Hussain **
Alec Stewart has pleaded with Nasser Hussain not to end his England career.
Hussain hinted that he may quit the international game after his unbeaten 103 helped England to a seven-wicket win over New Zealand at Lord’s.
“He made a comment last year that he was aiming to make 100 Test caps and I just hope he does carry on,” Stewart told BBC Five Live.
“He’s been a great servant for England and hopefully, if his form continues, he will make it to that 100 mark.”
Stewart admitted that he had been surprised by Hussain’s comments and hoped that Hussain’s father would help him rethink his suggestion of quitting England .
"I know Nasser well but that really surprised me. He will have been hurt by come of the criticism that he may be too old, he should make way for a younger player.
"He’ll speak to his father Joe and run a few things by him but Joe, if you’re listening, say to your son ‘you’re still good enough and carry on’.
“It may have been at the back of Nasser’s mind anyway; if he’s successful here then he can say ‘I’ll go out and be remembered for a very good innings’,” Stewart added.
“I personally hope he carries on and I think, in the cold light of day, I think he wants those 100 Test caps.”
First Test, Lord’s: England 441 & 282-3 beat New Zealand 386 & 336 by seven wickets
Nasser Hussain hit a battling 103 to lead England to a seven-wicket first Test victory over New Zealand.
Needing 282 to win at a sun-baked Lord’s, the hosts lost two early wickets in Marcus Trescothick for two and Mark Butcher for six.
Hussain was responsible for the run out that saw Andrew Strauss dismissed for 83 after a century partnership.
But he joined Graham Thorpe (51) in an unbroken stand of 139 to lead England home with eight overs to spare.
Hussain, under pressure for his place after Strauss’s first innings hundred, dug in for his 14th century but the first ever fourth-innings ton in a 96-Test career.
The home side improved by 64 their previous best fourth innings chase at Lord’s, and attained the fourth-highest successful target by any Test team in England.
As crowds streamed into the ground, they had endured a difficult start as stand-in captain Trescothick fell pushing a delivery back to the bowler Daryl Tuffey in the fifth over of the day.
Left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori bowled threateningly for much of the session from over the wicket into the rough outside the left-hander’s off-stump.
His only morning success was a moral one, however, as umpire Rudi Koertzen saw only pad and not glove as Mark Butcher was caught at short leg.
Butcher lasted nine overs in all but the pressure to score saw him perish to an impetuous flash at Chris Martin, via an edge to second slip.
Strauss remained confident throughout, taking 97 deliveries to become just the eighth Test debutant to score a century and fifty.
Only when medium-pacers Scott Styris and Jacob Oram bowled in tandem after lunch did he look really troubled, Styris’s occasional extra bounce causing real bother.
Just two Test debutants - West Indian Lawrence Rowe and Yasir Hameed of Pakistan - have scored two centuries and Strauss missed out through no fault of his own.
Hussain pushed to point and called for the single, continuing to run even though Cairns fielded quickly at point and had passed Strauss as McCullum knocked off the bails.
Thorpe joined his fellow veteran for a fraught 45 minutes before tea as Vettori and pace bowlers Styris and Chris Cairns made them play and miss regularly.
But both batsmen displayed more attacking spirit after the break, Thorpe sweeping Vettori with increasing authority.
Hussain began to advance down the wicket to go over the top to reach his 34th half-century from 158 deliveries.
And by the time Kiwi captain Stephen Fleming took the second new ball the only consideration was whether Hussain could make it to a deserved three figures.
Thorpe passed 50 in 97 deliveries to raise the tension but Hussain took two successive boundaries off Martin to gain his hundred and a single to clinch victory.

yeah - Ian is becoming an ass with his views - i still reckon Hussain is best when it comes to leadership - be it in the batting dept. or on the field.

Well..I am not really a big fan of Nasser as a bastman because I think technically he is a very mediocre batsmen. But he is good fighter and usually delivers when needed.
But Bothan sure has big mouth and that was good reply.
