Sri Lanka lead by 324 runs with 1 wicket remaining

Nick: "Why do England's bowlers have bumpers as the default against tailenders? Do they think Sri Lanka have reversed the batting order and their lower order are invulnerable to getting out normally?"

Swann to HAPW Jayawardene, SIX, caught on the boundary at deep midwicket and threw it back in just as he tripped over the rope, Samit Patel was right at the edge of the rope there and his left foot was actually in contact with the rope at the time that he caught that, so it’s a six, more runs for Sri Lanka, more frustration for England
Sri Lanka have lost one review, but the pressure is on England here.

Dilshan to Trott, no run, tossed up on the off, gets a stride out, gets outside the line with bat close to pads, Jayawardene has called for a **review** after a stifled appeal, Seemed tome like it was outside the line, just marginally as ball-tracking confirms, would have gone on to clip the leg stump but the original decision stands.

Dilshan to Strauss, no run, dropped, should it be called one? Driven straight into the pads of the fielder at silly point and it rolls back to the keeper, extremely difficult
Herath to Strauss, OUT, Herath strikes, England under more pressure now, the openers are gone. Tossed up and he accepted the invite, danced down the track to smack that over mid-on, ended up being a thick inside edge and Dilshan dived to his right at midwicket to complete a sharp catch
**AJ Strauss c Dilshan b Herath 27 (64m 60b 2x4 0x6) SR: 45.00 **
Dilshan to Trott, no run, **appeal for lbw**, another one, this time Trott gets comfortably outside the line while trying to defend, was struck on the pads

Dilshan to Trott, no run, **appeal for lbw**, short outside off, turns in and Trott goes for the pull, misses, was rapped on the pads, ooh, looked close. Height may have been an issue. Replays show it would have just clipped the bails, umpire's call had it been reviewed
And that ends day three in Galle with England having made a far better fist of this second innings. Still a huge amount of hard work to do with 229 still required to win but they do have a chance with eight wickets in hand. That was an excellent effort between Trott and Pietersen and they'll need a few more tomorrow if England are going to break some records.

Herath to Trott, no run, in the air, but dropped by the bowler! Trott came forward and closed the face, trying to play against the spin towards midwicket. The ball drifted into the right-hander from round the wicket, pitched in line with the stumps and spun away, taking the leading edge towards the bowler. Herath took a step to his left and lunged, getting one hand to the ball at head height, but he couldn't hold on
Herath to Bell, OUT, 77.8 kph, a huge appeal for lbw and umpire Tucker raises the finger, but Bell reviews it immediately. He moved forward to sweep but he was far too early on the shot, Bell had to wait ages and when the ball finally reached him it dipped under his bat and hit the ball low on the pad. He was miles outside his crease. He got a long stride forward and his back foot was outside the crease as well. I can't see evidence of a bottom edge, but even if he hit it, I think the ball was caught be someone. Replays indicate the ball hit the pad just in line of off stump and would have just gone on to clip the outside of off stump. So the umpire's decision is upheld. Bell has to go. But he was a long, long way forward.

Lunch - Day 4
Lunch, 12.00 pm England have scored 66 in the first session for the loss of KP and Bell. Trott has been batting steadily, and is unbeaten on 76. He was dropped by Herath on 62. Run scoring has been hard work, and while Sri Lanka are still ahead, England are certainly still in the game
