79.1
Panesar to DPMD Jayawardene, FOUR, delightfully played, chipped over extra cover and timed well enough to the rope

Re: England tour of Sri Lanka,

150 for Mahela Jayawardene :clap:

Re: England tour of Sri Lanka,

[TABLE="class: commsTable"]

That's 150 for the skipper...

82.3

 Anderson to DPMD Jayawardene, FOUR, pulled round the corner and a chance for Panesar in the deep but **straight through his hands!** The old, comedy Monty in the field returns and that is a bad drop, straight to him, an uncontrolled top edge and Panesar took it on the base of the left hand before it slid over the rope

Re: England tour of Sri Lanka,

[TABLE="class: commsTable"]

83.5

 Broad to DPMD Jayawardene, FOUR, now a full toss outside off is dispatched through the covers

83.4

 Broad to DPMD Jayawardene, FOUR, and to rub salt in the wound, a lovely clip past Panesar at mid on that whistles away for four

83.3

 Broad to DPMD Jayawardene, 2 runs, **down again!** A lofted drive goes straight up in the air, it's Monty again! But again through the fingers! And again Jayawardene survives

90.6

 Anderson to Welegedara, FOUR, whoa. Enough of ducking and weaving. Clears the front leg and pulls this bouncer away through midwicket. Like swatting a fly. What a first over for Sri Lanka

90.5

 Anderson to Welegedara, no run, stays away from this bouncer, which bounces a tough too high

90.4

 Anderson to Welegedara, 4 leg byes, another superb short delivery. The bumpers have got progressively better. This is a mean one, and crashes into the helmet of the ducking Welegedara. It flies towards second slip where Trott drops it for four ore leg-byes. Good thing Wele didn't touch it, or we could another drop to the list

90.3

 Anderson to Welegedara, no run, fuller now, Chanaka more comfortable with it. Pushes it back to Anderson, who has a mock throw at him

90.2

 Anderson to Welegedara, FOUR, another short ball, and a good one, towards his chest, middle-stump line, Chanaka doesn't know what to do, hangs his bat at it, and gets a healthy enough top edge to clear Prior and get four runs

90.1

 Anderson to Welegedara, 4 leg byes, bangs it in short, looking to bring short leg into play, rib high, but a bit too straight, and Wele manages to get enough thigh pad onto this to get it past Prior

Re: England tour of Sri Lanka,

*Stuart Broad to bowl now. Are we going to see the same old tactics where England look to get only one batsman out, and not Jayawardene? Strauss takes him time to set the field. He has moved Panesar from mid-on to deep backward square, and then to deep point. Oh come on already, poor Monty will be tired even before the game begins. And we have a deep-set field, if you are curious

92.6

 Anderson to Welegedara, OUT, lovely bowling. Anderson has done it by himself. Welegedara must have been expecting a bouncer, as he is stuck on the back foot. Anderson slips in the slower offcutter, Welegedara's foot is nowhere near it, and it breaks through the gap between bat and pad, hitting the top of leg. That's a clever dismissal

[TD="width: 100%"] Anderson to DPMD Jayawardene, OUT, Oh well done Anderson. Just when I was about to say this is looking like a middle-wicket net session. Anderson gets his fifth. Just short of a length, just outside off, Jayawardene comes forward to defend. The ball just holds its line, the edge is taken, and finally Anderson has produced the breakthrough

Broad Asian teams key bradman :hbk:

[TABLE=“class: commsTable, width: 630”]

27.6
Lakmal to Broad, no run, slower offcutter, beats Broad, draws an appeal for lbw, but this is hitting middle and leg, and being an offcutter this has to have pitched outside leg

27.5
Lakmal to Broad, FOUR, Broad is on fire here. Short of a length, angling away, and he punches it to the left of backward point. Lovely timing again

Jayawardene has a chat with Lakmal

27.4
Lakmal to Broad, FOUR, short again, and Broad is enjoying himself. Lakmal doesn’t quite have the pace to be bowling bouncers, and Broad has pulled this wide of mid-on for four

27.3
Lakmal to Broad, SIX, and that plan might be shelved soon. Lakmal bowls a bouncer and friendly pace, and Broad has absolutely smashed the pull shot over deep square leg

Two men for the bouncer now

27.2
Lakmal to Broad, FOUR, short of a length, angling across, punched away nicely past cover for four. That’s as good a shot as any played today

113/6 (28 overs)

[TABLE="class: commsTable, width: 630"]

29.6

Lakmal to Broad, FOUR, flashes at a length ball wide of off, opens the face, places it to the right of point, gets another boundary

29.5

Lakmal to Broad, no run, in the blockhole now, from wide of the crease, Broad is opened up in keeping it out

29.4

Lakmal to Broad, FOUR, wide of the crease again, full this time, broad drives, gets a thick edge, which flies between gully and point. This one definitely holds its line outside off. There could be some swing possible

32.1

Herath to Broad, OUT, full, swept and missed given out! and Broad goes straight for the referral. It doesn’t look as if he’s hit this…no hotspot in this series remember so there’s no conclusive proof and Broad will have to go because hawk-eye has it hitting in line and going on to hit the stumps
