^just the concept of engagement..

There are mixed views about the other little things, some scholars say they are allowed as long as they don’t contradict Islam and u don’t take it too seriously and aren’t too lavish/extravagant whilst others say it’s haram as it’s imitating the kuffar and so on..

as far as i know islam does NOT allow ‘engagement ceremonies’ that we know of…the ONLY thing that is required is nikaah…b4 that, technically, boy and girl are NOT FREE to meet … they are allowed only once to see each other in the presence of elders for the sole intention of marriage. there is NO concept of ‘mangetars’ whatsoever…
