Hey guys could you help me out with my engagement ring i mean post some pictures and all - my would be fiancee wants to buy me a white gold ring with diamonds on it but i want a gold ring with diamonds on it could anyone post pictures of both the styles. i dont mind it being the old rich kind of style as long as they are decent and not cheap but modern delicate styles would be better though.

mine… white gold with princess cut center stone… and smaller round ones on the sides.. the band has small ones all across it as well. i find it looks nicer if the side stones are not channel set.

white gold is so much more classy than yellow as an engagement ring and more popular these days... my ring is platinum with a princess cut stone. plantinum is more hard wearng than gold.

Also, I noticed you’re in California. I’ll be getting married in LA in June. I’m on the east coast now but my ruksati will be in Cali (all the family is there and I’m orginally from there). Anyways, did you have your wedding there? I’m trying to get info on make-up ppl, decorators, mehndi ppl etc. in the los angeles area. Any suggestions?

I really think your fiance has the right idea -- white gold and platinum look much classier.

I don't really like the look of yellow gold -- particularly in engagement rings.

But really go for what you like best. I'll see if I can find my photos and post them.

thanks! I just tried to PM u with my email address so that you can send me the info there but I guess I can’t PM unless I have 25 posts. Anyways, I’ll be in L.A. in late Jan till early Feb for about 10 days and I wanted to get make-up trials done then since the next time I’ll be there is in Mid-May, about 2 weeks before the wedding. My whole trip will be for wedding preparations stuff so any info on decorators/flowers, mehndi artists, etc. would be greatly appreciated. OC isnt tooo far from me, my wedding is in Torrance. I noticed ur a hijabi bride…like me :slight_smile: I’ve been strategizing on how to wear the dupatta and still be covered, hehe.

yea i’ll definitely get a hold of some info for you… thats what i’m working on right now, getting my nose pierced, working on decoration stuff, and finding someone to help me get ready.

hehe, i think we’re on at the same time. anyways, ya i just saw the post. Thanks for that! It’s definitely something to keep in mind. I have a couple of other strategies in mind for remaining covered and still looking nice. I’ll be heading to Pak in March inshaAllah so I need to decide by then before I get my outfit made. I donno if u’ve searched the forums at all but there are a few more pics of hijabi brides u can get ideas off of.

so i think i've almost decided who i'll be picking to get me ready for the wedding and valima... her name is farah. her website hasnt been updated for a while, but she plans on adding new pictures within the next month. i've seen her work and stuff and shes really pretty good. she offers a lot of packages and stuff for mehndi and body waxing and etc. and she's pretty affordable too. check her out at and let her know that i (sumiyia) referred you. www-myfairbride-com. the dashes are actually supposed to be dots but its not letting me post links yet.

on her links page, there's a link to exquisite events or something. i liked some of the stuff they had up in their gallery, so i'll be calling them up sometime soon. i'll let you know if i come across more stuff, insha'allah.

Thanks a bunch! I just emailed her with my questions and I said you referred me. Have you seen her work "live?" I mean have you been to any events where the bride or whoever had makeup done by her? I don't always trust pics, even though they looked decent enough. And do keep me updated on your wedding planning. I'm looking for photographers, too. so any info on that would be nice. She did have some links for video/photo but the link didn't work. Let me know if you come across any other make-up ppl...I'm trying to keep my options open. JazakiAllah khair :)

yup.. one of my friends hired her and she looked beautiful. i dont trust pictures either but i have seen her work live and i trust her enough for myself. we've already hired the photographer for the shaadi and valima. i'll try and get more contact info for you iA. :)
