End of the road for Sami

It’s pretty much official that Mohammad Asif will return (inshAllah) for the last test. This means that we have to clear up our roster to make room for him.

Hmm… I wonder who’s going to be the lucky victim?

Common sense leads me to think that Mohammad Sami will be dropped after this series because of his lackluster performance thus far. Essentially, this means that we will probably not see Mohammad Sami on the national team for a while.

He may be able to stage a Shahid Nazir-esque ‘come back’… but it really seems like his wheels have come off.

Poor guy.

However, I like defying all stereotypical characterstics of “Pakistani cricket fans” (a term I use loosely)… therefore I’d like to take the optimistic approach to Mohammad Sami’s future.

He did manage to bowl a very impressive first over on sunday… if that possibly carries over on monday, then maybe this won’t be the last we see of him?

Re: End of the road for Sami

I hope so :(

Re: End of the road for Sami

We have been playing him like idiots on "ifs" and "buts" for the past three years. Good riddance I say.

Re: End of the road for Sami

watch out, they will axe Shahid Nazir instead of Sami....

"Sami is very talented bowler who provides with pace [the real "passion" in PCB tank] and [unseen] variety" <--- is what we will be told.

Re: End of the road for Sami

If Shoaib and Asif both retun in the next game they will retain Gul and drop Sami and Nazir.

Re: End of the road for Sami

I will never believe it until I see that final line up for the 4th test. If you know Pakistan cricket, you know you can NEVER be sure.

Re: End of the road for Sami

arey bhaion sami key koi chacha mama PCB main hain, thats y he's there

Re: End of the road for Sami

I wish Muhammad Sami is ousted asap!

I seriously think he is an incompetent as has no what so ever talent. He is juts useless. Look at his bowling. The guy cant control his line not length. I am very dissapointed with him. The only pak bowlower to take 8 wickets in first match and then his performance grapgh has plunged badly.

If he is the talent we got, then dont buy the dish network worldcup package coz its not gonna be good.

I wish he is dropped for ever. i really wish. same with butt, taufeeq, and faisal iqbal. A ten years old would perform better than them.

Re: End of the road for Sami

He will Countinue to haunt us,he will never go,He will play for another 507 years because he,s taken 5 wickets in this match.

Re: End of the road for Sami

I don't know yaar, we're r going to have Asif, but then our attack will become one-demensional if we drop Sami, frankly I was impressed with his bowling especially since he was bowling at full pace and was much more aggressive.

Re: End of the road for Sami

^^ he does that when his place is in danger, not that he is successful all the time but he did exactly the same against India and shocked Indian waal Dravid some beautiful deliveries on dead pitch.

The problem is that he only bowls like this once every 5-10 tests.

:smilestar:

Re: End of the road for Sami

I'll be the first to admit that he bowled superbly today. But these days are extremely rare, and I'm sorry you will have to go Sami.

Re: End of the road for Sami

do you think his performance had to do with the fact that he KNOWS very well that he's gonna get axed, or because (as it has been claimed) younis khan encouraged him to bowl with lots of pace?

he was doing really well with the old ball! and nazir did really well with the new ball...

still, at this moment i'd take gul over him or nazir (if we have to make room for asif and akhtar).

Re: End of the road for Sami

I would give credit to Younis Khan's captaincy; he is very involved with the players. He is constantly chatting with them and encouraging them to be aggressive. This builds player’s confidence, which is extremely necessary in tight games like these. Moreover, he is aggressive with his field placements. Inzamam unfortunately leaves the players on their own, which is a wrong approach.

I do not see this as the end of Sami. He will have his career; if you want to end it bring Anwar Ali Khan into the squad.

Sami along with Gul have been impressive. The problem is they have been both very unlucky because of umpires and fielders; otherwise, their figures could have been even better.

For fourth Test, I think Sami will be replacing only if Shoaib returns. I do not see Pakistan going in with Asif, Gul and Nazir. Asif will come in place of Nazir, just a guess.

Re: End of the road for Sami

Well, Sami did bowl nicely today. As a matter of fact everyone bowled superbly just before and after tea. I feel sorry for Sami now. May be he should be given one last chance in the next test match.

Re: End of the road for Sami

Have you guys ever notice why he keeps persisting? I believe it is because he never gets injured! Why can't our other bowlers learn from him and not get injured every 2 minutes!!!!

Re: End of the road for Sami

Agree 100% :)

Re: End of the road for Sami

LOL... yeah Sami does happen to be surprisingly fit for a 'pace bowler' (or lackthereof in his case these days).

I guess I'm just being nostalgic when I wish for Sami to perform well because of the way he did a few years ago. In reality, it's far fetched to assume that he will ever have a permanent role on our squad.

Re: End of the road for Sami

Shoot me now but I can't help feel sorry for him. He had gotten us the early Tresco breakthrough only to have it dropped, AGAIN. He was genuinely trying very hard yesterday and bowled some great spells. I don't whether it was the difference between Inzi or Younis but he was being used as a strike bowler instead of typical line and length stuff. His speed was up and the length was fuller.

I very much doubt Shoaib will be playing in the last test, and like Man with a Plan said, I have a feeling Sami will playing along with Asif and Gul.
