Sami was impressive today as usual in patches and I don’t think he has a place in the pace attack for the final match.
It will be a shame if Nazir who clearly was the better bowler in the match, is going to miss the Oval match. What message the managemet will be conveying? that although Nazir was better than Sami but still we would drop him becasue we feel that Sami can repeat today’s performance sometime again in the next 15 matches:mad:
Even if shoaib is not going to play the Oval test, still I would go for Asif, Gul, and Shahid.
^ I agree..Sami bowls well once in a blue moon, and from what I've seen of Nazir so far, he seems to be a very good line and length bowler...and has been the most ecnomical and shud have had more wickets to his name if it wasnt for the horrible umpiring in the first innings.
I agree it’s a tough situation to be in. The result of this match will have an impact on the next match’s selection. If we draw the game, then we will have to go all out in the last match. Depending on the wicket, we may need pace over line and length. On the other hand if we win this game, then we can try to balance our attack a bit more. Lastly, if God forbid we lose, then there really isn’t any purpose in risking a half fit Akhtar.
If Shoiab doesnt make the test then Sami should play...Asif is a better version of Shahid Nazir...Sami is the only genuine quickie...if hes dropped the attack is too one dimensional...Hes a confidence bowler...its not nice to be in and dropped all the time...i like Sami and think if given a run then he'll do well...Also on Nazir...he isnt fit enough...he gets tired too easily...
Seeing the performance of both Shahid Nazir and Umar Gul today, it would be fair to say that once Shoaib and Rana are back, Sami will never be heard of again.
You really can’t say that. We were in similar situation before and all of sudden Shoaib, Asif and Rana are injured… the next thing we knew Sami was leading the attack
so, just pray that atleast 3 of these bowlers Asif, Shoaib, Rana, Gul, Shahid remain fit so we don’t have to see Sami again.
