Re: End of the past?
You chippy little bugger, if you wanna use ‘oh so foreign’ insults, at least get them right. Or else, I’m more than happy for you to just piss off once and for all.
I don’t know who it was who said Porus should be Punjab’s hero - you or the other one. Otherwise why the eff would I bring Alexander in this discussion? He ain’t my bloody hero. He was one blind glory hunter. It was you who utter another highly ignorant and stupid gem like how Porus ‘resisted’ Alexender (well duh! he was a King who had a large army - what else was he supposed to do than to fight - write poetry perhaps?) but conveniently ignored the fact how he became Alexander’s server later. So much for resisting, han? How desperate are you to impose these Kings as ‘heroes’? I didn’t throw a single name to suggest who should or shouldn’t be Punjab’s hero.
No I’m not acting smart or nor I am some racist or xenophobic who thinks everything is perfect in Punjab as long as sons of soil are in charge. The Biradari system is indeed a curse. Punjabis need to liberate themselves from this ancient and repressive class system, and they are trying and have made considerable progress. Thanks to urbanisation and nonexistence of ethnic based politics, it is not as difficult to fight this curse as it could’ve been if Punjab was still a primitive tribal society or caged by feudal system.
