Unthinkable had happened , Nine Zero had been raided which no one could guess a month ago. Altaf Bhai in trouble, his passport got confiscated, Zahara and Imran farooq murder cases opened back against Bhai.
Anti terrorist court got a case against bhai and tons of key mqm leaders are in trouble.
Now since army is openly against Bhai, do you think this is the end of MQM as we know it? Do you think we will not see MQM in next elections and PTI will fill in the vacuum in elections.
You can not say it an end of MQM , You can say it an end of Altaf era , A more democratic but weaken MQM is necessary otherwise any raciest can do much bad .

Yes, I think so.
MQM as we've known it for the past 2 and a half decades is (thankfully and FINALLY) coming to an end.

I think so too but there's a dark side of such things I believe. If MQM is a political party then it's going down considering latest happenings. But if MQM is an ideology I would say not.
The future of MQM is now under a huge cloud of uncertainty. There has been very little to zilch activity in it's unit and sector offices since raid on nine-zero. Although the common workers and supporters seem distraught by the chain of events unfolded lately, they still believe in their leadership to come through this difficult phase. But the murmurs of splits between the same leadership too are louder than ever. The minus one formula is also being discussed among the masses.
In general, most Karachiites (and Hyderabadis, for that matter) are generally very relieved and thankful to the authorities for taking these long due actions.

Its kind of interesting you said that b/c one of my Urdu speaking friend once told me that Altaf and his goons are not only holding Karachi and Hyderabad hostage, but also Urdu speakers as well b/c they do all kind of terrible things in their name when most Urdu speakers want nothing to do with MQM's style of politics.
Btw, I wonder why Zardari/PPP is trying to throw ropes at MQM when they are for 1st time being held accountable for their crimes?

our politics is really screwed...zardari wants to provide political space to them, should we now consider PPP the partners in crime??

Well, that is a good question b/c on one side rangers actions were applauded by Sind's CM & at the same PPP leadership condemned ranger's raid on 90. I think Zardai is playing double game.
MQM has some very convincing political ideas. I am sure a lot of people could be attracted to their populism if they ever come out of ethnicity based politics and went beyond 'victim' rhetoric.
Let them play their mohajir card, I don't think it will work now. Things hav changed a lot during the past one decade...MQM will have to change its way of operation of it wants to survive.

That i think is very interesting point. Army or whoever wants MQM to be there but no body wants Bhai to be dictating it. There is only so much you can do from thousands of miles away.
If MQM goes away tomorrow it will create a huge vacuum which would otherwise be filled by their rivals and it will change the demography of Karachi.
MQM is in a perfect position to have a election based Leader and run the party as per wishes of karachiwale instead of someone sitting in london.
Edit: if they have election based leader then they will actually eat away from the support of PTI. MQM will become most democratic party in the country and ofcourse with leadership structure changes there will be vision and way of working changes of the party too. I hope it happens.

MQM is fulll of criminals and terrorists. They have been this way since the beginning.
You cannot change them into a peaceful democratic force.
Adopting an election based leader in any of the parties, except PTI, is a big big ask.
Won't be happening in any political parties anytime soon.
