Its kind of interesting you said that b/c one of my Urdu speaking friend once told me that Altaf and his goons are not only holding Karachi and Hyderabad hostage, but also Urdu speakers as well b/c they do all kind of terrible things in their name when most Urdu speakers want nothing to do with MQM's style of politics.
Btw, I wonder why Zardari/PPP is trying to throw ropes at MQM when they are for 1st time being held accountable for their crimes?
Your friend was correct in saying that. And it was proved by the number of votes PTI got in 2013 elections from constituencies with largely Urdu speaking populace, despite huge rigging by MQM. Party's true fan base has now restricted to the few people who directly benefit from it, one way or the other.
Zardari knows that like Altaf, his ship is sinking too. And at a similar pace, if not faster. So whatever stance he is taking over this issue is in hope to get some support when something similar happens to him.
That i think is very interesting point. Army or whoever wants MQM to be there but no body wants Bhai to be dictating it. There is only so much you can do from thousands of miles away.
If MQM goes away tomorrow it will create a huge vacuum which would otherwise be filled by their rivals and it will change the demography of Karachi.
MQM is in a perfect position to have a election based Leader and run the party as per wishes of karachiwale instead of someone sitting in london.
Edit: i*f they have election based leader then they will actually eat away from the support of PTI. MQM will become most democratic party in the country and ofcourse with leadership structure changes there will be vision and way of working changes of the party too. I hope it happens*.
LOL. If only things were so amusingly simple!
It is obviously inconvenient for you to admit that MQM has always been a brutally violent force from its inception, despite maintaining the facade of relevant political grievances. So many lives, families and livelihoods had been destroyed under their 30 years political thuggery, and if anyone somehow choosing an elected leader will miraculously sanitised MQM and make people forget the pain, trauma and sheer brutality of their institutionalised terrorism.
Yes, maybe the hardcore ethno-centric Urdu speaker voters would still vote for MQM - with or without Altaf Hussain - but in a multi-lingual, multi ethnic, urban and young Karachi, PTI had created a niche of its own. If any party that would get in trouble with genuine straightening of two urban parties in Karachi - MQM and PTI - it would be none other than PPP.
Considering, operation in Liyari and raid on 9-0 were simultaneously taking place. In fact, operation in Liyari was happening way before the 9-0 raid and is still ongoing, so the whole idea of oh if you touch MQM someone else with arms will fill the vacuum doesn't seem to hold much truth at the moment. Karachi has surprisingly been very peaceful since 9-0 had been raided, and that tells us a lot!
Reports say Rangers are likely to expand the scope of their crackdown on criminal elements within PP, PPMLN, ANP and religious parties.
The Uzair Baloch case might reach its logical conclusion soon.
MQM is trying to put up a show by celebrating 31st origin day of MQM (Youm-e-tasees) and there is a huge gathering of its workers in Khi, hyderabad etc.
But the question is, have these attendees forget this man? They can end up with the same fate!!
**JACOBABAD: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Friday said that no further talks with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would take place until investigations into the allegations against the party are concluded.
*Speaking to media representatives, he said the issue of forming a fresh alliance with the MQM was discussed before the Senate election. However, the prevailing situation demands that no further talks should be held, he added.
The CM said:“Party [PPP] will take a decision in this regard only after investigations into the allegations against the MQM are concluded.”
Chief Minister Shah said that overall law and order situation had improved in Karachi as Rangers, police and ‘other institutions’ had been working to wipe-out terrorism from the metropolis.
He told the media that the key accused in Shikarpur blasts was killed and vowed that the province and the country would soon be eradicated of terrorism and extremism.
That is a sane decision. After revelations by SM it will be suicidal for any party to make alliance with urban terrorists. MQM in present form should be liquidated. Sooner the better for every one particularly people of Karachi.

PPP is an interior sindh party for a while and current zardari leadership has done what zia-ul-haq couldn't do if he wanted to them.
There is a reason that PPP is happy for southern punjab division but is against a separate province or heck, even more control to locals for karachi resources. They don't get elected from karachi, but they are like a leech sucking off blood for just being elected from interior sindh to the CM slot. Beghairat jiyalas would never admit it, but they would rather give a new definition to stalkhome syndrome.

Wasn't PPP always won 3 or 4 NA seats from Karachi since 1970 elections? Read the history of elections. It was always JI who own majority of seats before inception of mqm.
Rest of your post is racist shi!t coming from your mouth.
