can’t ppl for once think with their own DAMN minds and do something about this madman? why is it that everytime something BIG happens in pak, they have to wait for their stupid leaders to make statements and ask them to take actions. these leaders are least bit interested in their well being or good. we just saw this when BB came to pak. its sad that a nation of 160+ million can’t think for itself for its own sake. no wonder they get kicked around by every NZ BB and mushy. :halo:
Yes, Musharaff played a major part in creating the problem. But unfortunately, he is also the best bet to solve it.
I don't see how any kind of alternative will be better in the given situation.
Some1, let me tell you something. As cliché as it may sound but fact of matter is that dictatorship is never a solution to any problem rather it causes majority of problems. I am not going into details but let me tell you that majority of so-called terrorist-oriented problems in Pakistan are direct result of frustration that has embedded in several segments of society. This frustration is a direct result of dictatorship. How could you expect dictatorship to solve problems when dictators only believe in action and not in diplomacy.
If Msuharaff was able to deliver he would have solved terrorist-related problems in last eight years. He has actually deteriorated situation as any dictatorship would do.
If Indian army was able to solve problems, Kashmir would be a heaven by now.
If US army was able to deliver Iraq would be free of Alqaida by now.
So please refrain from passing such blanket statements. Don’t take it personal but we Pakistanis are sick of Indians and rest of the world telling us that Musharff should be tolerated because he can “deliver” against terrorism. We want proper democratic system just like any other nation.
Some1, why don’t you guys bring Generals in your country and have your Kashmir problems solved for once.

*Arey bhai...*I am not even pretending that I know more about Pakistan than you do.
But I do know a thing or two about how democratically elected governments work (esp one that is coalition based) . It is near impossible for Governments such as the one in India to take tough and unpopular decisions. The government has to do a lot of balancing act and consensus building....for example Manmohan Singh has not been able to get everyone on board on the nuclear deal with the US after months of political wrangling.
In Pakistan, where certain amount of ruthlessness is now required on the part of the government - I don't believe a democratic setup can deliver that.
Yes, Army Rule is definitely not a long term solution for Pak....but is certainly the need of the hour for Pak...in my opinion that is.
I share the sentiments with saieen and MwaP as well, No I am not playing devil's advocate here, and however the right word would be finding a delicate balance. Apparently it was hard to comeby. It is pivotal for Pakistan that elections (fair and just) should take place within reasonable time. Saieen you are dead right that we dont many right choices atleast for now we need to find an interm solution which will curb all -ive approach toward democracy.
My brother-in-law was the president of Multan High Court Bar Association last year, and played pivotal part in rallying lawyers around Ifthikhar - apparently the warrant for his arrest has been issues without any reason.
All in all, you have kangaroo assemblies run by sell-out politicians that are completely subservient to the commands of the armed forces. This is nothing less than Martial Law.
The point being that anyone who dares to oppose is being locked up. The rulers (armed forces) are running amock like thugs with their own gangsta style rules in the Banana Republic of Pakistan. At least they should have learned a lesson or two from the demise of Zia and his entourage; in amidst of all the gala, they met their deserved and rutlessly destructive fate....just when they thought that they were invincible..
saieen: Why you think that Pakistanis do not make their own mind? Pakistanis does have their mind and they have made that already, but unfortunately if that is not same as yours than you seem to show that you are still waiting for people to make up their mind though actually I believe you are waiting for people to change their mind according to what you like
160 million people have made their mind that they do not want to come out against President because they are happy and hate the alternative that Pakistan politics give to Pakistan. If anyone does not like this fact than it is not fault of people, it is fault of those that do not like that.
:DIt is nice to see that you are so happy because someone agrees with you. If you show such happiness always, I would not mind to agree with you always
i always agree to disagree. does that count? :halo:
as for not coming out in street against mushy…well who wants to get killed by coming on streets against mushy? i want to enjoy freedom, narjis ke mujray and ashwariya rai ke thumkay so its better if others die for the cause of my freedom.
I would want to ask those who have extensively criticised Musharraf to enlighten me on one count:
How do you propose that an alternate civilian setup to Musharraf tackled extremism? Specifically whatever is going on in the Frontier, with the heavily emboldened extremists, how do you propose to tackle that?
so basically the dictator wanted to take on the supreme court. said it himself that the superhero in supreme court is arresting his corrupt, lawless and chor members of many agencies......things are becomming so bad that they cant loot people anymore. Cant have that goin on now can he? let's just get rid of the entire panel of supreme court and hire some of the personal goons of the dictactors.
all the rubish about terrorism and he's so willing to root it out; tell me one thing, to this day, has he ever or anyone from the law agency come out and daclare that we killed this terrorist who was responsible of this attack at this place. never. all we have ever seen or heard was attack on some trible area and thats about it. god knows how many innocent civlians were killed in those strikes. who knows, probably he's behind the bomb blasts in the country. wouldn't surprise me if he did all that to creat such situtation in the country that it becomes easy for him to impose state of emergency and get rid of CJ.
now final question is, what are we doing? he is but one man, why cant we just throw the god damned scum out? what more will it take before we all take it to the street and march down the freggin road and demand he leave the country for good? what exactly is it gonna take? we're all fed up and tired of him, we can see past his evil motives, his ill intentions, yet we're all just quiet and not doing anything.

and i want to ask u 1 simple question?
from 1999-2007...care to enlighten us wht mushy have done so far to tackle the issue of extremism and terrorism? from 1999-2001 the was actively supporting the same terrorists. now he wants us to believe that he is killing them by killing innocent civilians. he had more time than any elected government in the past and results are in the open for all to see. he never was sincere in addressing the real cause issue of abandoning the very ppl he had been supporting and sponsoring and for side lining the people of FATA. also his thirst for staying in power is not helping either.
^ I'm still waiting for a concrete answer. I'm no mushy-fan, and I would like to get some idea about how to tackle the Swat extremists to whom the Pakistani soldiers surrendered....how can they be tackled with a civilian setup???

Well said. Some1 please support people of Pakistan and not a dictator. If you want peace between our to countries than democracy is must for Pakistan b/c its men like Mushrraf who for their own sefl interest want to keep this conflict going.
