Can anyone give a primer of sorts on the upcoming elections in UK? Who the main players are? Where they do stand on key issues?

Re: Elections in UK
Not really following them much to be honest. All I hear is Nigel Garage of UKIP ranting anti immigration chants.
Khair, as a Pakistani I’ll be voting for labour. As 80% desis I’ve met support labour.
Re: Elections in UK
I’m not registering to vote since I don’t consider it’s fair to impose my choice , as I don’t live in the UK anymore.
My normal political support is Conservative but this time round I’m hoping that Labour wins, for one reason alone: they are the only major party taking a strong stance against zero-hour contracts. These are a form of modern slavery and any party that opposes them firmly is worthy of support.
Re: Elections in UK
Number of posts depict interest of Pakistanis in these elections.
Well here is a vid I found to hv a better understanding:
Re: Elections in UK
Conservatives for me. Hate Labour, all they do is tax and spend. In fact hate them all but conservatives seem to give less free stuff to lazy people and therefore tax me less.
Re: Elections in UK
Any party that would cut student fees ![]()
Re: Elections in UK
It used to be Lib-dem…turns out they’re rubbish. will be voting for Labour…I like Ed Miliband.
Re: Elections in UK
Did not know about 60,000 voters. Wonder how gerrymandering works in UK.
Re: Elections in UK
Are lib-dem different from conservatives?
Re: Elections in UK
Yeah…I know they’re different but don’t know how or what makes them different to each other.
Re: Elections in UK
have they stopped giving welfare to the whole tabbars/khandaans of kashmiris and pakistanis in UK yet??
Re: Elections in UK
Labour please.
At the moment it’s looking like a hung parliament. When hsbc announced they were going to possibly move thier headquarters out of London cuz of possible European exit, it really damaged conservatives and Ukip’s campaign
Re: Elections in UK
ideally labour. kinda looks like a labour with lib dem co.
i love nicola though! and am i the only one who has been finding the leaders debates a joke? whilst labour has a better policy, ed isn’t exactly PM material.. from blair to brown to.. miliband ![]()
nigel farage.. all dat logic swoon
Re: Elections in UK
Prior to the last general election, Lib Dems were somewhere between true Labour (not New Labour) and the Tories. The coalition they formed to get into government was just a farce. They have been powerless.
People are so uneducated when it comes to politics and policies.
Beeb… way to simplify the matter. Tories might tax you less but they take away in every other way you can imagine.. from us all, not just the ‘lazy’ folk.
Re: Elections in UK
lib dems’ public spending policy is most transparent (IFS), if that’s anything to go by i think they could be in on the coalition but again, it depends how much they’ve changed in terms of actually being able to exert power, as opposed to being lackey’s.
Re: Elections in UK
Vote Tories!
Re: Elections in UK
Is the Labour party what Democrats are in the U.S.?
Yeah in an ideologically speaking. However the u.s as a whole is far more right wing than the UK. So the Democrats over here would be considered right leaning.
Re: Elections in UK
^ more like were. Now they are as much a party of corporations as the other party. This was in response to post 18.
Agree with midnight.
