Re: Election Results for the National Assembly
I think people may just be overwhelmed by the righteousness of the results - like who would have thought that Musharraf's staunchest allies would get trounced like this.
After such vicious turbulence of the past year or so; sky rocketing commodity prices; annihilation of independent judiciary; the free elections may seem like a breath of fresh air. But, what exactly lies ahead? Whether the parties will be able to iron out their differences to kick Musharraf out - it would require both parties (PPP and PML N ) to be staunchly united and for the most part it's unlikely. Musharraf's only way of survival is through 'divide and conquer'. I think when all the dust settles, he might be able to galvanize the support of ANP, PPP and MQM to get keep himself in power...but only the time will tell..:)
I dont think anti-mush elements are THAT strong in PPP (though there are some) to get him out of presidency. This is why Its likely that Mush will survive because of PPP, ANP and MQM.
