There are rumours that Imran khan might not contest from Na 126. He could take NS directly in Na 122. If this decision is due to seat adjustment deal with JI, and if PTI supports Liaqat baloch I'll not vote for the National Assembly seat.

PTI, PMLN and PPP should do a seat adjustment against Ludhianvi in NA 89 and PP 78. No one has filed nomination papers against him as yet.

PML-N faces tough situation in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is in state of confusion over awarding party tickets on both the National Assembly’s constituencies of the federal capital - NA-48 and NA-49 - traditionally won by right-wing parties, as party circles doubt that their former MNAs lack public support and may not succeed due to some other reasons.
The party known with the emblem of ‘Tiger’ though on the verge to finalise its ‘deliberations’ to field their candidates in different constituencies, yet unsettled matter of these areas (NA-48 & NA-49) to field nominee is also exhibiting bit unsatisfactory position of the faction.
The Nawaz Sharif-led party is also in process to shake hands with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) for seat adjustment but this might create another difficulty for at least one of these two seat as Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will not afford to surrender of their contestants, if both the factions agreed on seat adjustment arrangement.
**The situation of NA-49, which was won by Tariq Fazal Chaudhary by securing over 45,000 votes, has altogether changed in five years because of certain reasons.
The first cousin of former MNA of this seat Ilyas Mehrban, who played a significant role in 2008 polls to make possible success of PML-N, has joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with the aim to contest from NA-49, thus dividing the family votes. **
The PML-N former MNA could also not fully satisfy his constituency’s voters in the head of development work as compared to other areas of same party, analysts believed guessing party situation in NA-49.
The other strong contestant from PPP, most likely to be Mustafa Nawaz Khokar, having support of famous business tycoon might also compel party’s stalwarts to replace its former nominee with some strong candidate, they said. Moreover, Zubair Farooq Khan is also very active in the constituency.
It was also learnt Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan is taking special interest to help choose best candidates for both the comparatively weak constituencies.
The saga of NA-48 for PML-N, previously won by Anjum Aqeel Khan with over 60,000 votes, is not much different from other constituency of Islamabad, because of having strong candidates against them from Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).
Once the famous figure of PPP Dr Syed Israr Shah gained around half of votes as compared to Anjum Aqeel Khan in 2008, has all set to contest on same constituency from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).
Israr Shah who remained active in media during the last some years although having physical problem has achieved much popularity in the constituency, which might not provide easy pitch to PML-N to secure success like its previous support.
The famous episode of former lawmaker - Anjum Aqeel Khan’s escape from police custody on multibillion land scam in connection with National Police Foundation - is believed to impart negative effect for award of ticket to him by his party leadership.
The party sources shared that the former MNA from this constituency has also some other reservations from his party members, which had already been conveyed to party leadership.
The PML-N, which is currently deliberating to award tickets, has to face another strong candidate from Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Mian Aslam this time in upcoming polls-2013, who is all set to contest from NA-48.
It is relevant to note here Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is in no mood to compromise on this constituency in case both PML-N and JI entered into negotiation for seat adjustment arrangement. “Thing are yet not final for seat adjustment either with PML-N or PTI. Our candidate from Islamabad is in strong position and we will not compromise on him,” said Liaqat Baloch, talking toTheNation.
Political pundits assumed that PML-N might pressurize JI for its Islamabad seat if entered into negotiation with them about seat adjustment arrangement.
When contacted, PML-N stalwart Ishaq Dar shared that they have almost finalized award of tickets of Southern Punjab area and soon all the process will complete. He, however, remained tight lipped for replacing any candidate from Islamabad. “We have received thousands of applications and process of scrutiny is underway,” Dar added.
It is relevant to mention here that former president Pervez Musharraf might also contest from NA-48 and is expected to file his nomination papers soon. Till now, collectively 112 candidates have obtained nomination forms from NA-48 and NA-49 ICT.
The process of filing nomination papers for general election that kicked off on March 24 is continuing throughout the country.
