^ Just like mine, he said u have credit card and all money in the account is yours, so buy what ever u want :(. We have joint account, but this time after eid I got my separate bank account.

aaah that reminds me of blunder that I did in early period of our relationship. (off course in early days of relationship guy simply become ullu-ka-pataha with ankhoon per pattti) Once we got married, we got joint account. On first eid, with out telling her I opened an account in her name, deposited $300 and gave her cheque book as her Eidi. That was a technical mistake (that my other brothers should avoid ;) ) and now i have to deposit moti-tazzi amount into her account every month. To avoid double deposit in eid's month, I have designated a big-warm-hug as her eidi :)
PS: Bank of America - Advantage Customers can open account without getting a signature from account holder so don't post comments like "how can you open account with her name without telling her" :)
:D lol.
Re: Eidi from Hubby on EID
I think Eidi should be a gift...something both of you get for each other to show some thoughtfulness and creativity!
Re: Eidi from Hubby on EID
^ No, i don't believe in that. I think the burden of gift giving should ALWAYS rest with the man, whilst the lady can bestow gifts at her discretion. I.E it is the mans DUTY, and OPTIONAL for the woman.
MEN, take note, u must supply gifts to your wife on EVERY occasion that warrants it, including, birthday, eid, eid again, anniversary etc etc.
:(
Re: Eidi from Hubby on EID
My dad still gives eiddi to my mom =)
Re: Eidi from Hubby on EID

Re: Eidi from Hubby on EID
Lucky to all you women who recieve Eidi and good going to those men who give it. I recently had my first Eid but my husband gave me nothing. I had to go to class that day since I had an exam but afterwards I made halwa and my husband bought food from outside and invited 2 of his friends. His Muslim friend could not make it but his Non-Muslim friend did. A very nice guy. Anyways, I did not dress up b/c his friend was there and all....I miss Eid. My family lives far away so could not commemorate with them. They went to the mosque and then to my uncles house for a potluck. I miss that so much. I'A next year :-)
Re: Eidi from Hubby on EID
Phool, y don't u make your next weekend or next day that both u and hubby have free, into a late Eid celebration day? Tell him u felt sad no eidi, make plans to dress up, cook nice food at home and invite some friends, or go out for dinner.

Re: Eidi from Hubby on EID
i got the eidi. if you dont get eidi from him , take it from there ATM.
Now after 6 years of our marriage I didn't get any eidi from in-laws, just they send 2 suits for me and one for hubby till 4 eids(eid-ul-fitr)even when I was there in on my first eid-uz-zuha. I went Pakistan after first eid and before eid-uz-zuha, I gave my all SIL and BIL eidi, even I was not on eid there but, I gave late eidi to them. But nobody gave me any penny and they gave eidi to theie 3 Son-in laws but not to Daughter-in-law, and my ammi gave eidi and cloths to me and my hubby, he was in US so I did his shopping from that money.

Thats the good idea, if he will not give me eidi next year I will do so ...

Yea right. He hates going out unless its with a group of his friends where we go to eat out. He is always watching t.v. these days, especially the news with the presidential campaigns going on and all. I once dressed up in a salwar kameez for him for the heck and romance of it and he came home and told me to change else I would get my clothes dirty. He didn't even notice I had gotten my makeup done. He said "Go, go change your clothes. You might drop khaana on it during dinner." When I protested he told me there was no special occasion and I shouldn't dirty my clothes. sigh Then he turned on the t.v. and a few minutes later asked for dinner and ate it while watching t.v. and not saying a word about how my food was. (P.S. to you all out there-this was NOT an arranged marriage but a facilitated one where my friend told me of him and we exchanged emails and my Mom knew this was going on and talked to him as well and liked him enough etc etc)
My husband just paid off a big lum of credit for an apartment thats on my name only (he worked so hard for it) and said thats my eidi, but I told him I would rather have a 10 Euro note .. hehe and then he said that I am so nasukhri... :-/
