Eid milad un nabi is biddat - Saudi mufti

Re: Eid milad un nabi is biddat - Saudi mufti

Brother it is not my way to quote Quran and Hadith without knowing why i am quoting. This can be appreciated by looking at the views of the people i will be quoting for. For example i consider these people who are anti Mawlid as deviants but to tell you the truth they do not have a uniform reason for rejection of Mawlid. So one guy will have negative thoughts about ‘‘Birthdays’’ another will have negative thoughts about celebrations all together, another just hates the poor people who celebrate without ‘‘looking cool’’, another will hate the people who do Mawlid full stop hate them. The biggest factor they all share is loyalty to a sect that does not commemorate Mawlid, and this is uniting factor

so when you quote one Evidence, one person may go quiet. The other will pop up and deny the evidence. They do not have principled concept of correcting each other, so when one denies the Honouring of a day due to Birthday, and you quote the evidence for that, he go quiet for a few minutes and another one will pop up and say something else. All in all they will walk away refuted but by having different people deny or acknowledge different thing they will walk away with their desires as their Lord

Common objections that are found in them at forums level is that remembering ‘‘Birthdays’’ are bad - the reality of this khawarij objection on Mawlid is kufr (in my opinion only - the ahlus sunnah might disagree with my extremism)

Any way the proof for commemorating/remembering Birthdays, among many others, is:
**Proof # ** 1
The Holy Prophet commemorated his own Mawlid by Fasting
Syedna Qatadah Al-Ansaari

narrated that the Prophet

was asked about fasting on Monday and he replied: “It is the day on which I was born and on which I received the Divine Revelation”. ( Muslim)

This hadeeth is clear evidence of the importance of the commemoration of the Holy Prophet’s

*** birthday through worship. And Allah the Supreme has commanded in the Holy Qur’an to follow his example – “Indeed following the Noble Messenger of Allah is better for you – for one who is confident of Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much. [Surah Ahzab 33:21]***

***It is also important to note that the Holy Prophet ***

*** fixed a certain day, every week, for offering this gratitude. He did this for other matters also e.g. visiting Quba Mosque, visiting martyrs’ graves at Uhud, etc. So if Muslims “fix” a certain day, this too is part of Sunnah. Al-Hafiz ibn Rajab al-Hanbali, in his book Lataif al-maarif, explaining this hadeeth of Muslim said, “It is good to fast on the days that Allah honoured and favoured his servants.”***

Another common objection is there is no proof for celebration to be allowed:
Proof # 8
O mankind! The advice has come to you from your Lord and a cure for the hearts - and guidance and mercy for believers. Say, “Upon Allah’s munificence and upon His mercy - upon these should the people rejoice”; this is better than all the wealth they hoard. [Surah Yunus 10:57-58]

This verse clearly states that REJOICING upon the favours and mercy from Allah is better that all worldly goods. And there is no doubt that the Holy Prophet is (a) A great favour from Allah and (b) Allah’s Mercy towards the entire world. This general permission from Allah applies to all His favours.

Imam Suyuti mentioned this Verse in his Fatawa on Mawlid, explained here A Direct Challenge to the deviant najdi’s-Shaykh Asrar Rashid…MUST WATCH !!!

^This challenge was put forward after provocation

finally the people who celebrate Mawlid among them are people away from deen:
The answer to this is that even Kafirs are REWARDED for acts of appreciation of Mawlid un Nabi SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam:
…'Urwa said, “Thuwayba was the freed slave of Abu Lahab. Abu Lahab set her free and she suckled the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace . When Abu Lahab died, one of his relatives saw Abu Lahab in a dream in a very bad state and asked him, ‘What have you encountered?’ Abu Lahab said, 'I did not find any rest after you except that I am given this amount to drink on account of my setting Thuwayba free.” [sahih bukhari]

^he is given water to drink every monday for his celebration of Mawlid

I will however link to proofs, again this is not written in order of proving Mawlid with the most heavy proofs first but it is written as meant to be read completely. So within it you will have proofs for their individual objections that are common and silly, although knowing about other proofs not contained here would be a big help

The day of birth of Prophet Isa Alaihis Salam is honoured in Islam by its mention in the Quran. Other wise it would be permissible as far as i know to have days mentioning for the celebration/commemoration of our Prophets, as we do for our Awliya but we must be careful of not becoming a part of other religions.

Interestingly christmas is not mentioned in any of our early sources or by early scholars. Not everyone is even believing that it came before Mawlid of RasoolAllah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam! there exists some western websites which claim otherwise but their testimony is suspicious/not acceptable. This point i am only telling as a point of interest it actually has no bearing on Mawlid because the proofs for Mawlid are established from Islam.

Mawlid can be done any day of the year. We should not limit it to any one day, although many people focus on 12th of Rabi Al awal. As long as the community holds its gatherings over a few days and weeks or even more everything is A1 fine. The objection you saw earlier with regards to date was really sinister and ignorant of islam. One of the points of that was to make a case for stopping it on the 12th but he really wanted it stopped full stop
