Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
We don’t celebrate celebrate it but yes we do dua together and recite Quran. Also in my family, we cook something sweet (Like a niyaaz) and distribute it.
But yeah that’s about it.

Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
I dont personally celebrate it, but I wont degrade those who celebrate it by calling them biddatis. It is being celebrated for centuries but lately hatred against it is increasing which shows the intolerance in our society.
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
^ Its a psyche that prevailed in many ladies of our area. People might not be aware of grave concepts related to religion, but they know soft side of Islam and Prophet and his being ‘Rehmatal Lil aalameen’. They don’t remember the third Hijri month as ‘Rabi ul Awwal’, they call it ‘Urs waaro maheeno - the month of Urs’. This tradition is transferred to next generation and young girls do invite their friends for Milad almost every day during the month. I was not for these things since my childhood, as I was more attached to my Deo-Bandi dada who never stopped these activities, but considered these activities additional. But the latest wave of violence, intolerance in the name of religion does require that these celebrations should be there to remind people, we belong to a Prophet who was not rigid to suffocate people and their lives.
There are many things that can be said, but I think I should stop ![]()
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
We don’t do it in my family. Most of the people either fast on this day or do nothing. Some new members of the family actually host milad. I don’t mind attending it because I know the intentions of those family memebers. In fact end up learning a good thing or two from it. As long as people don’t make it a ritual or like Diwana said, as long as people don’t start expecting some sort of sawab/reward for doing it.
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
we celebrate it, and we will attend a milad on sat.
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
Honest question: If you don’t celebrate but you get invited, would you attend?
No we dont celebrate mild un nabi.
Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
It depends on who the invite was from. I don’t attend the large, OTT community wide milaads and naat khaanis, but if a close friend or relative is having a small, intimate milaad at home and I’m invited, I’ll go if my schedule permits.
I don’t point fingers and questions others practices and points of view, as I don’t appreciate it when it’s done to me. I’m no one to judge, Allah SWT knows best.
We can celebrate the birthdays of our sons and daughters and siblings… But not Habeeb Allah? Strange
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
1 qn: is there authentic proof abt when Nabi SAW bday is?
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
Well said. If everyone got this point we’d have a much more tolerant/understanding society.
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
The problem is everyone who knows little about religion start tagging everything bid’at and all that. The more you read and go through the writings of different school of thoughts and writers, you will start thinking 100 times before issuing these fatwas.
The kind of opinion in respect of Xmas and Thanksgiving celebration in west by Muslim minority is also a result of such lack of knowledge. Even people like Shah Waliullah in his book ‘Hujjatullah e Balighah’ considering the events in Makki period of Prophet hood, says that Muslim minority is allowed to participate in such festivals if these are not against ethics.
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
Considering whats happening in Pakistan, I have started to hate the word of “biddat”. This is the starting point, first declare someone Biddati, then Mushriq then wajib ul qatl.
Its not that Eid Milad and 9th Moharram processions have started in the last decade or so. I just dont get it what has changed in the past 4 decades. Those things one wouldnt even think about 40 years back create a lot of noise now.
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
Our people dont celebrate it, it is a bidaa. This approach doesnt mean intolerant thinking as a member here is trying to say… you dont change the shape of islam, you dont add or subtract from it. Christaians and jews destroyed their religions by adding things like this.
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
good for you
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
The kaaba o qibla of these bidat chanting people (KSA) is the biggest bidati in the world. Skyscrapers around kaaba is not bidaat, but graves of Prophet’s family is bidat. Celebrating Eid Milad u nabi is bidat, but doing aatish bazi on Independence day is not a biddat. Big portraits of Saudi family in Saudi airports, running a kingdom in the land where Prophet lived simple life (though he could live a life like a king) is not biddat. Hypocrisy thy name is Biddat ![]()
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
When you celebrate it as an eid then ofcourse it is a huge issue. The question you should be asking whether sahaba celebrated birthady festival of hazrat Mohammad p.b.u.h or not?
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
These seh rozas and chillas are also biddah’s, saalana ijtimahs, the way taraweeh are prayed is also biddah…its a pandorra’s box…
meeta meetha hup hup, karwa karwa thoo thoo
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
No, It is not celebrated except halwa manda prepration in honor of birthday and distribution to few neighbors… But it is not like Mild event…
Milad event is women gathering… they attend… recite naats… drood o salam… and then food…
Re: Eid Milad un Nabi Festivities
yes if its about biddah’s you will see every one doing it, but of course the biddah’s from others are reprehensible…
