The problem is everyone who knows little about religion start tagging everything bid’at and all that. The more you read and go through the writings of different school of thoughts and writers, you will start thinking 100 times before issuing these fatwas.

The kind of opinion in respect of Xmas and Thanksgiving celebration in west by Muslim minority is also a result of such lack of knowledge. Even people like Shah Waliullah in his book ‘Hujjatullah e Balighah’ considering the events in Makki period of Prophet hood, says that Muslim minority is allowed to participate in such festivals if these are not against ethics.

Considering whats happening in Pakistan, I have started to hate the word of “biddat”. This is the starting point, first declare someone Biddati, then Mushriq then wajib ul qatl.

Its not that Eid Milad and 9th Moharram processions have started in the last decade or so. I just dont get it what has changed in the past 4 decades.Those things one wouldnt even think about 40 years back create a lot of noise now.
