Eid in GTA area

So what places are good for Eid namaz? We used to go to Tariq mosque every year and Qutba was really good. But last year we ended up going to Pearson hall and, i don’t know what maulana sahib was going on about…seemed like he didn’t even know how to lead namaz and qutba. Any recommendations here.

abhee 8 din baqi hayn, thora to sabar kar lo :halo:

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

JP, lol, I was at Pearson as well last year. What happened was that the maulana’s mic died half way through the namaz. Only part of the men’s section could hear the namaz … what a time for it to die. We (the women) were all down in sajda and just literally waited in that position for the maulwi to continue but we couldn’t hear anything … so for minutes we were down there until slowly, slowly, one by one, the women started getting up and looking at each other in confusion. :hehe: I will never forget that.

Then there was a big discussion that our namaz wasn’t accepted since we didn’t know what the heck was going on, so many women read it again on their own afterwards.

As for this year, I guess we will find out in a few days, after the weekend, where Eid namaz will be held this year. My family normally goes to wherever the ‘big’ Pakistani gatherings are.

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

Mehnaz I must have been in the different crowed, as they had Eid namaz at 3 different timings. But thats really funny, i can't imagine having to stay in sajda and not hearing any instructions from maulana sahib :D
This time I am thinking of going to some mississauga mosque, however most of namaz is now in banquet halls which i am not very big fan of.
I heard they used to have namaz at Toronto Congress center near Airport, do they still have that.

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

I’m leaving Toronto and going to Manama, Bahrain, for my eid namaz & a 2-week holiday :hula:

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

lol..Sajdah time should be ok… just imagine if that had happened in Rak’ku … :hehe:

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

Madscientist, if you get a chance do visit the Grand Mosque and Bahrain Museum in Manama.

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

Khutbaa, not Qutba. lol

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

So you are going to spend your Eid with Michael Jackson?

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

Also don’t miss bab-al-bahrain

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

there is a mosque ever 2 - 4 blocks in mississauga area.....they should make a BIG mosque in GTA and everyone should just gather there every year! :p

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

lol - that happens at our masjid on a normal basis since we have a crappy sound system and the women’s section is upstairs while the men’s is downstairs. We have so gotten used to the mic dying off that one of the women just leads the prayer if we don’t hear AllahuAkbar after a couple of minutes.

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

our family always go to woodbine banquet hall for eid namaz....its good.....but the sad thing is that half of our family (female) only goes to eid namaz to show their new clothes, gossip and to exchange gifts (we usually have a kris kringle on eid..and the only time we woudl all see one another would be at namaz)....only the aunties and a couple of other younger chicks (me included) read namaz....if ur goign to be there and u see a bunch of girls all in a corner with their screaming kids....its probably one of my relatives...lol....

about bigging one huge mosque..yeah i woudl lvoe that too...the problem with that is that us muslims are cheap, dont liek to spend our own money, and cant get along....look at the sikhs and hindus...now they know how to spend money..look at all their gurdwarars and temples everywhere (nice one...not just a little buildiing in an indurstiral unit....)..they spend money now, and not saving it for god knows when....i noticed that there is no large mosque in west GTA (vaughan, rexdale brampton)...

when i was younger, we used to have eid namaz at international centre on airport road..i loved that!!!! and also at cne....

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

I've never been to a big mosque or a shaadi hall or anything...I usually go to the mosque near my house or my friends house in Brampton...

I hear in Mississauga, the living arts centre has quite a gathering....maybe i'll go there...

What time is the namaz at Pearson hall...or Woodbine Banquet?

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

not sure yet...most like around 9.30ish..i think they have 2 namaz timings...but once i know for sure, i'll post it up...

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

They normally do it at the Mississauga Convention Centre. I don't know if they will do it at Pearson again after last year's fiasco. :D

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

go somewhere, where they talk in english ..lots of parking and less of those teenagers trying to pick each other! I remember i went to payal once...oh man that was pure fashion show..and thats da only reason people go there, to QUICKLY read the namaaz and stand outside to meet show off! payal sucks!

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

 You have Santa Claus come to your house on Eid??

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

Main reason i am not leaning towards a Banquet Hall is becuz people think they are coming to a wedding not for Eid namaz. We might be going to Tariq mosque if there isn't anything good in Brampton or Mississauga. I wonder if they have something at International centre this year?? I heard it was really good.

Re: Eid namaz in GTA area

not exactly.. my cousins and i (age range: 15-30ish and all female) exchange gifts with each other on eid…instead of buying a gift for everyone, we write everyone’s names on pieces of paper and put then in a bag. Each person picks a name from the bag, and does not tell anyone, and they would have to buy a gift for that person. The limit is around 20 bucks..but some people spend more if they want too.
Even our young nieces do this as well…ages from 4-12…its cute…
