It’s been very long time since i was in Pakistan during Eid. Looking at the new link for e-cards, just reminded me of old times when it was absolute common to give Eid cards to friends. These were no ordinary Eid cards, but with Indian actors/actresses pictures on them. I also had tonnes of these given to me by my classmates. Few days before Eid, i remember these huge stalls of Eid cards setup in open areas with full power lights on them. Now i look back almost 15 years and realize, this was almost like a must thing to do for everyone.
Is this craze still common over there? or is it just limited to few areas in the city.
Lot of questions come to mind. When and how did it start in the first place.
Why not just beautiful cards with mosques on them.
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
Jal-pari, why would fascination with 'celebrities' die down?
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
Jeez I never saw those cards. Must be the ones in jumma bazaars cos I didn't ever see them in shops.
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
those cards are usually on display by sellers on “street”
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
My fav used to be that of Sultan Rahi carrying a gundaasa while ketchup dripping from his ears and his eyes bulging out in anger. I wonder if he was saying eid mubarak.
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
those were Baqra-Eid cards
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
^That's right.
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
Another popular theme with the street valay cards were the lousy pigeons with some gold tacky hearts on 'em.
I don;t believe this sultan rahi story.
As for JP's question well I guess it only shows the influence of the indian film industry in our country or did anyone ever see cards with brad pitt, tom cruise, gere, brosnan??? Can I have one too?

Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
A few years back the most popular card was where this little 5 year old boy is holding a flower stem giving a kiss to an equaly young girl. OK, I can understand that being sent from one romantic-zada to his mehbooba but on eid?
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
I don't recall coming across any such Eid cards. Put up a few samples for the rest of us.
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
They are simply pictures of different bollywood actors/actresses converted to “Eid Card”.
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
^ you have to get them trained at young age FG. How else will they learn to give a kiss to their wife on Eid? Plus I think you made up that Sultan Rahi's card...FF on the other hand did deccribe the tacky card with peigons prefectly.
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
Why is everyone doubting my Sultan Rahi card? Are you telling me there aren't enough Rahi fans to claim an eid card with his pic?
Re: Eid Cards with Indian Actors/Actresses on them
I am sure there are many Sulatn Rahi fans, however, I spent first 19 years of life in Pak and was very much intuned with the "street crowd" but never came across such a crad.
