Quite a well known phenomenon , specially during college and uni years .. but recently i saw the trend in junior school as well.
though it seems quite adventurous but can have a very negative impact on the overall study performance . any thoughts?

Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
Yes, Yes. No argument there. :)
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
i am the perfect example of it…i skipped classes in Med School and as a result my attendance fell well below the minimum required. i was NOT allowed to write final exams in that year and i was kicked out…a heavy price to pay, indeed! i learned my lessons the hard way and finally did the smart thing…i studied well and did everything all the way to a PhD Degree…Doctor to ban gayaa magar ghaas phoos kaa…logoN kii jaan bach gaii
Allah jo bhii kartaa hai kisii ke bhale ke liye hii kartaa hai…
…now, part of my job is to KILL plants…their relatives can’t even sue me! ![]()
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
those were golden days of life :D
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
I NEVER bunked and i regret tht ![]()
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
but it was not that common 30 years ago. it is ok ![]()
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
I did during College…just the Italian classes…the Prof was so annoying and his classes were always in the morning…
But never in high school…warna papa haath pair thodke haath mein rakh dete ![]()
I don’t think it is a good idea to bunk classes…
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
^ Exactly. If I am paying for somebody’s education, it’s an investment and I want full return from it. ![]()

Parhaakoo bachchi. :k:
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
I bunked classes in high school to work on projects, I was always the last minute kid. :(
Its a baddd habit, and definitely not good, but then again I did alright anyway. I think...
University - It was worse. The morning 8:30 classes - pretty much missed all of them, unless attendance was worth 5% of mark. But even then I used to take my royal self into lecture 10 mins before it ended. God it was always sooooo embarrassing, especially when the door's at front of lecture halls and classes are small. :( ahh then you walk in quietly and make sure professor is facing the board and not the class.
I blame the class bunking in my teens on uninspired and uninspiring teachers, unable to or not interested in making the class an engaging experience. If their contribution is going to be marginally more than reading the textbook then I can do it faster and myself and whenever I wanted.
This especially held true in Uni dealing with general core classes, which should have been there to build a love for learning and build broader interests, however it seemed like a bunch of profs did not care and just went through the motions. Those who did care left an impression forever.
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
^I had a teacher like that too…who just simply read out things from the text book…it was B O R I N G ![]()
So we would sneak a peek at her text book when she is facing the board and highlight what ever she has highlighted on her book! Ofcoz that was also the class we played pranks on each other and her ![]()
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
I almost never bunked classes at school. However I did occasionally skip class in University to do an assignment or prepare for a Test.
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
We had a teach who'd start Tabligh right in the middle or start of the class and then we'd read something in the last 10 mins.
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
I never bunked classes at School but few times at college and many times at Uni. I remember once at college,I had to leave early , was just not in the mood of studying, asked my teacher, could I got to the loo? She was yeah. Ok,I took my bag, pretended that i am going to the loo and I 'll be back in few minutes, left college , got on the bus and went home. Next morning, asked mates that did teacher asked about me once I left? she was no, she didn’t realize. buhahaha
Another time, me and my mate we both left and went shopping ,next morning teacher told us never to leave without telling her. ![]()
At uni, who cares? no one asks ,no one takes attendance, they take attendance twice in a week at my uni that’s it. Some of the mates sign in for each other in tutorials.
I have passed 2 modules this year and didn’t attend a single lecture plus they were not too hard. Well,it depends on the degree too, lecture at my degree are wastage. Teacher comes, talk talk talk and leave. Students keep playing PC games on their laptop, fb,hotmail, some are busy texting etc only few students pay attention. Usually , lectures for compulsory modules are worth attending.
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
For all the money the colleges and universities take, you would think that they could hire professors who actually knew how to teach.
I guess I am not the only one who experienced uninspiring, awful professors who seemed baizaar from life and didn't know the A B C of teaching. What a disappointment they were. Made the college years painful.
I guess good teachers are rare and it seems like a global phenomena.
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
I bunked the classes only for the two years of Intermediate (11th and 12th grade) in Pakistan.
The same teachers who used to hardly teach in classes were awesome teachers at their tuition centers/homes; hence, the reason for bunking.
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
seriously?you got kicked out from med school final year??![]()
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
i’m glad i did bunk at times in uni and few times in collage:cb:
Not in school though..shouldn’t bunk classes at school, you don’t have a reason to..plus you usually get caught…and
from the teacher!
Re: Effects of Bunking Classes ..
NOT in the final year…the first year. my attendance was at 30% while the required minimum was 75%. if mine was short by a small percentage, i would have found a way around it. that was the lowest point in my life but thank God i came out with little bruises.
