I know Accutane works but I have not been able to bring myself to go on it. The side effects I read about sound so horrendous I dont know if I can handle it.
Success stories?
Yes I was on accutane for 5 months. Now i have been off of it for about 3 months and not a single zit. Most people never breakout again and even those who do, suffer a much milder form later on.
The side effects arent so bad for most people. Mainly dry skin, hair for aslong as you take it. My hair is normal again now, it was getting dry while i took the drug. Skin is back to normal too, no need for extra moisturizing. If your acne isn't getting better with topical creams and solutions, ask your derm about accutane. Side effects are NOT that bad, atleast not for me.
You will need to go on BCP though, because accutane carries a high risk of teratogenicity so it's not ssafe to concieve while you're on it.
i've seen people who take accutane and they rarely ever break out again. i did chemical peels at the derm's office + antibiotics. use mild cleansers (not the rough kinds), reduce stress (exercise), and SLEEP!!!
Long term, cutting out sugar and detozing is the way to go. Accutanes etc are all temp measures for a problem that needs a long term detoxing solution guys...

Contrary to the popular belief, sugar doesn't cause or ever exacerbate acne. Acne is because of excess sebum production.
I really don't get why people are saying Accutane is a temporary solution when it's the only thing that actually cures acne for MOST people. Obviously no drug in the world is 100% efficient, there will always be some people who may not benefit to the full extent but majority of the people don't get acne ever again. VERY few do.
Carbs, fats, detox is all just a MYTH. Ask any dermatologist and they will tell you.
i dont know how come people r saying that roaccutane is the best....one of my friends went to the derm. and he has some 30+ experience in his field..she asked about roaccutane and the dr. said u have to first sign a document saying that i wouldn't get preg while taking this medicine and u have to be on BCP and then take roaccutane with monthly (i mean every month) checkups of ur cholestrol levels and blood sugar and HCG(sp?) also...moreover after taking it for 6 or 8 months i DON't guarantee u that ur face wud be clear or if its clear then u won't ever have acne again in ur life...and not to forget..after 2 yrs of quitting this medicine u can then get pregnant bcz of the harmful side effects which still remain even after u quit this medicine...but on a serious note my personal advise is don't take roaccutane..its horrible...
this is as said by the dr......i also suffer from acne but i would never ever go for accutane..:-/
Post your tried and tested acne and acne scar removal remedies...from natural to prescription medication.
Well ro-accutane is what cleared up my face quite alot though i didnt finish the course cuz of the side effects :(. But i believe after using that my acne never got that bad. However, i think age also have to do with it? i m not sure. I feel with more sun exposure n stress i breakout so def avoiding these things help my skin.
Also, i have been using chanel's face wash for last 3-4 yrs now and though i was always told i m 2 young to be using it but i believe it has helped my skin keep in control.
I use about 2 tbsp olive oil with 2 tbsp of honey and 2 of lemon juice. Apply all over your face and neck, leave on for 30 minutes and then wash off.
Does it work? Is it for acne scars?

I know eh :( I just started having those side effects when abt 2-3 weeks were left for my course so i had to stop. Who wants to get a clearer skin at the cost of yr brain failure or whatever. But i do believe, if you are the cautious sort you can use it under the supervision of yr doc where yr blood is checked every other week i suppose. Accutane sure does help so if you wanna use it just make sure you go to the rite doc n r being supervised.

That's true. The side effects i got was terrible headaches n the worst was when i was at a chinese restaurant n my bp probably shot up really high cuz i suddenly felt my head spining n i was abt to break out in sweat. That made me stop the medication but i believe if you take the medication with regular check-ups it should be fine esp if you have a major acne problem cuz accutane does work for most people from what i have read n experienced for myself.

I believe everyone should make their own observations when it comes to stuff like this. For some, chocos n no amount of stress wud give them a breakout but for others it mite. So go with what works for you.

Well yah its hard but if you have severe acne, you can take all these precautionary measures to prevent any damage by the medication. And as for pregnancy, well not everyone is gonna be pregannt in 2 yrs or whatever so it can work for some people. And i believe there is no medication in the world that for sure works on everyone same is the case with this one. Atleast this one wl have a better success rate compared to other acne medication.
no alhamd...first of all i dont have severe acne.."2 yrs or whatever" is not the major issue ...the purpose to tell like that was its side effects last longer..
anyway ,u said what u feel like and i said what i do
