Eeshwar Allah tero Naam !

Re: Eeshwar Allah tero Naam !

I am an Indian, a born Hindu and married to a Sikh but I have never come across any statement that says parents or gurus are above god. Yes, a lot of times they are equated to god as they definitely establish the conscience of god, goodness, kindness, and also an individuality within themselves.

The Upanishads say:
– Matru devo bhavaḥ (Mother is equivalent to god and her name is taken first as she is the one who has given birth)
– Pitru devo bhavaḥ (Father is equivalent to god and comes after the mother)
– Acharya devo bhavaḥ (Teacher/Guru is equivalent to god and comes after the parents in terms of priority)
– Atithi devo bhavaḥ (Guests either invited or uninvited at your place are equivalent to god and you are asked to treat them with respect and not turn them away. This is another way of saying God can appear anywhere unannounced and in any form and people are always expected to be ready to invite him.)
