whats the contest of the video? is it new or old? as i watched his interview a few days back where he said that
nothing like this happened. if its true i condemn it and on the other hand wand to know if some FIR or complaint was registered with the police?

Yet another thread to bash IK and PTI.

I dont know, I saw it and seems pretty new to me because in an extended version he also talks about how Musharraf should have stayed abroad and is not going to get any seats... As for the FIR etc. I do not know but one thing I know for sure is Edhi would not lie about this.

This video and the interview is very old. I was able to find links dating back to 2011. The actual 'event' took place back in 1994 and Imran was not a politician at the time and PTI did not exist at the time. Not sure in what capacity he could have threatened Edhi or conspired with Hameed Gul to take down BB's govt. Logic dictates that IK didnt have any political influence at the time.

what i have found out in this issue is that, edhi says that imran along with hameed gul threatened to kidnap him if he didnt help removing benazir. this incident is of 1994, when imran was nit in politics. imran says that he did meet edhi in london (alone) and they discussed forming a pressure group to force the government to increase spending on health and education. now we have this statement of edhi which is just an allegation. we cannot reach the bottom of it until a case is filed in the court of law. edhi is not doing justice to the people if he is nit launching legal proceedings, as by avoiding this he could become part of a criminal becoming PM of the country.

Imran Khan was not a politician back then. He had met Edhi Sahib in london and suggested that the 2 of them being leading philathropists should join together and form a pressure group to influence the government to increase welfare spending.
Apparently, around that time Edhi sahib was also being pressurized by Hamid Gul to oppose BB and that’s where threats were coming from. Hamid Gul had also just begun courting Imran Khan.
Edhi Sahib freaked out thinking that Imran Khan was part of the same group threatening him.

I am no fan of Imran Khan’s politics, but this is an unfair accusation against him.

Thats sad, but Benazir’s 2nd government was till 1996, and in 1996 Imran Khan laid foundation of PTI, there was only 4 months of overlap, so he had so much power right from beginning with ISI that he wanted to take the government down?

This thread is lame. Sorry. Churning out a 15+ year old incident fraught with irregularities, and with no relevance whatsoever.

With due respect to Edhi and his work, he is politically inclined, and is associated with PPP while pretending to be neutral. Lending edhi air ambulance to Benazir for personal use and starring in promotional ads for Sindh govt are a couple of his hallmarks.

This issue has been beaten to death on many forums, asked and answered comprehensively. There are more holes in Edhi's statement than a bullet ridden body dumped by MQM. In any case, this is the official response by Imran, issued by Dr. Arif Alvi on his behalf.

The PTI Chairman Mr Imran Khan has met Mr Edhi only once and that was when he was collecting funds for SKMT in 1994. He met on the recommendation of Dr Haroon who was the physio of the Pakistan team. Mr Khan remembers that Dr Haroon was also the Trustee of the Edhi Foundation and he insisted with Mr Khan that Edhi Sahib is in London and that they must meet up. Khan Sahib was then neither in politics nor was he interested in politics.
Khan Sahib says that he met with Mr Edhi in London. Mr Khan remembers that all that transpired, details of which can still be confirmed from Dr Haroon, was that as there were only two major NGO’s on Pakistan then SKMT and Edhi, they both should form a pressure group to push the government into spending more on Health, Education and Welfare. The discussion of a pressure group was purely in this regard. Mr Imran Khan never met Mr Edhi along with Lt Gen ® Hameed Gul, and never was any discussion held with Mr Edhi regarding politics. Mr Khan continues to respect Mr Edhi for his philanthropic work.

I do agree Edhi should have stated the names back when this happened. However, I disagree on the politically not active part, Imran and Gul were pretty active back in 1994 politically.

Edhi has no political ambitions, but is politically inclined, no secrets about it. He frequently used to allow Benazir to use Edhi air ambulance for personal use for her trips betweeen Karachi and Garhi Khuda Baksh. Plus, I guess you havent seen him starring in promotional ads for the failed Sindh govt, praising them for the work that they never did.
