The ads were taken off the air after ECP ordered govts not to use public money for self promotion. I could not find a copy of the ads on youtube, but I've seen them many times, and am sure many others have seen them as well.

I would hate to rant on a person like Abdul Sattar Edhi just because you choose to act like a teenager. Edhi is a great person, and I have the highest respect for him. The interview cited above however is a misquote. Edhi is talking about 'someone' who met him, who he assumes is on behalf of Hameed Gul, Imran Khan etc. Funnily enough, this interview came out only when PTI was gaining momentum in 2011.

Mr. Edhi is a great person. He should either stay away from politics, or let his actual PPP affiliation be known publicly, so that people can assess his credibility based on their own intelligence, rather than on the track record of 'edhi welfare trust'.

And yes, he should stop starring in PPP ads on TV. Its not becoming of a person of his stature to come on TV and lie about the so called achievements of the worst govt Pakistan/Sindh has ever seen.

The most plausible explanation is that BOTH Imran Khan and Edhi are telling the truth.

It is well known that in 1994 Hameed Gul was working with reitired and acitive ISI/Military officials to remove Benazir. It is also well known that Hamid Gul played a role in convincing Imran Khan to enter politics. What probably happened was that Hameed Gul and his group were trying to convince Imran to enter politics. They probably thought that an alliance with Edhi would make him more successful and may have been behind arranging a meeting between Imran and Edhi. The meeting probably went exactly as described by Imran Khan. However, the group may have exerted pressure behind the scene on Edhi to join Imran Khan and may have threatened him. Imran would probably be unaware of these behind the scene manouvers. Basically, Hameed Gul and his group were trying to use both Edhi and Imran for their own purposes.

If you listen to the interview carefully, Edhi never says that Imran personally threatened him. He just refers to a group of retired genrals and officers whom he somehow associates with Imran.

Eventually, this conspiracy went nowhere. Edhi never took the bait. Imran came into politics and was under Hameed Gul's influence early on but has long since left his orbit.

this is how I feel about this:

An allegation has been made by a very reputed citizen leader against a very popular political leader : a crime has been committed. If the allegation is true Imran is the criminal; if not then Edhi is the criminal. This must be investigated by the police

This was back in 1994, 2 years before Imran entered the world of politics, unless you are implying that Imran an establishment puppet by birth.
Edhi's story has holes, and he did not rebut Imran's answer. Like I said before, its funny that Edhi decided to make a political statement about Imran in 2011, right when PTI was rising in the ranks....a full 17 years after 'Imran threatened to kidnap him'.

And oh, establishment puppets are folks whose political careers are born from the wombs of generals....like Nawaz Sharif, like Bhutto...

Since when has it become a crime to form pressure groups and force government on spending more on health and education? If I am threatened, I will go to police and file a complaint. I will not wait for 17 years and disclose it at a time when it may gladen every opposing camp of the guy I am talking about.

You think so, but people of Pakistan think otherwise. If he is going to be super duper leader of Pakistan, he should be cleaned of past record as what you guys are trumpeting murli day and night on this forum.

So if he murdered or raped 15 years ago, his illicit actions are written of because they are old. What a nirala logic.
