Despite increased hygiene and health risks … the food is one of the favourite things on the list of any Pakistani … when you go to Paksitan , do you keep aside all your fear and toot paro on the bahar ka khanah ? or do you keep your appetite and dil in tight control and dont let go and enjoy only ghar ka khanah?

Its just that when I went to Pakistan , I really really wanted to enjoy the challi and Pani puri .. but was so scared coz I have heard so much about people getting food poisoned and hepatitis from street food :no:

even from challi made in sand ???? i think the heat would kill any germs there?

i know i am scared too but in the end u can get food poisining even at the cleanest restaurant. hepatatis is scary.

Thypoid , Hep A & Hep E are the viruses you can get from thela wala food. Like Saadia said Hepatitis is scary :no: avoid this food.

The other day we were watching a documentary on channel 4 here in the UK . they showed that in Lahore there is this oil production factory somewhere in the slums where they use dead horses/donkeys/dogs and rats to extract oil from their body parts and later this oil is sold in the market as “khula tail” and is used by most of the shop wala’s who do pakora’s and jalebi’s in large oil pots … They interviewed a few shop wala’s asking them if they were not aware of how much disease this oil can cause and they said , they knew about where the oil was coming from but the regular oil was so expensive and beyond their affordability that they were left with no choice but to use that oil.

Rest you guys can imagine , what goes on with the food even in the usual restaurants … :no:

yes....but by that logic..you should never ever attempt to cross a road in pakistan..or use any public transport....too many accidents...

**i don't eat from thelas ever...period! i once got very sick after eating from a thela waalaa and thet scared the hell out of me.

i go to a small city in India where until recently there was no western style eatery. now, they have one three star hotel and their restaurant is great. lemme add that this place is quite nice.**

No a more apt example would be, to not use caution when crossing roads or using public transport.

abhay....i said "jab marna to marna"....that usually said when one doesn't want to be careful in regards to certain things...

Btw, Alhumdulillah I didn't get sick in Pak...at least nothing I wasn't used to. The key is to gradually get into it...since I was there for a while I had the time to do that.

I think...the local people are immune to the tehlewala's delicacies...otherwise they might have gone out of business a long time ago... :D

I love food from thelas and rairhis :yummy:

I am aware of the hygiene level, but still cannot resist. Not that i eat it every day.

By the way, i did not know one can get hepatitis from street food :no:

Coming back to the hygiene level. i would rather eat from a rairhi wala in Pakistan than from any restaurant in the west.

Have seen too many hidden camera videos of what people do with the food in the west :nahi:
