Re: Eating from the Thela's and Reri's in Pakistan

I would LOVE to buy the stall food in pakistan, but the one time i did so i spent the next day vomiting. literally the whole of the day. and the next. sigh. I have a really weak stomach cos whenever i go pakistan despite trying to take care of what i eat, i always fall ill with food poisoning in the last couple of weeks of my stay :( it sucks.

Re: Eating from the Thela's and Reri's in Pakistan

Depends on what the reri/stall is selling. Food like corn and chanay, these are safe to eat from a reri. Food like gol gappay, chaat, fried stuff, qulfis, samosay, you can never tell how hygienically they've been prepared and there are lots of ingredients involved any of which could be dodgy and give you food poisoning.

Re: Eating from the Thela's and Reri's in Pakistan

Last time i was in pak and had 1 samosa - i spent 3 days in agony with stomach pain, vomiting and running to the toilet frequently :(

Foreigners have weak stomachs anyways…:smack:

Re: Eating from the Thela’s and Reri’s in Pakistan

Gourmet bakers should sell those rats to the ‘khula tail’ waleys. Its a win win situation on both sides.

Re: Eating from the Thela's and Reri's in Pakistan

mmm....gol gappay

Re: Eating from the Thela's and Reri's in Pakistan

i stopped eating from reri wale due to all the hype on hepatitus, but a friend who is a regular visitor to Lahore, went to his favourite reri wala for fried fish and said where have you been, i came some time ago and you were no where to be seen, he replied he was recovering from HEPATITUS !!!!! WTH!!!!!

Re: Eating from the Thela's and Reri's in Pakistan

I told people who go to Pakistan do not eat out , if you like something a properly washed container with you and bring that stuff home , re-heat to high temperature and then enjoy it at home on own own dinner table in your own properly washed plates and bowls.
It will save you from diarrhea, Hepatitis , Dysentery and many other illnesses.

Many things like bun kabab or goal guppay cannot be re-heated then you should avoid them and try to make them at home and enjoy,
