Since when has Eastenders or the Media in general in any country ever protrayed any race/culture/religion to be what they are.
I do not for one second believe that most of you think that what Masoods or any other Pakistani/Muslim family do on telly does not actually happen in real life too.

I think Zainab and Amira are extremely annoying but Afia (the new character) was exceptionally bad.
I mean no one at Muslim weddings run into rooms and start kissing! and why was Afia wearing such gothic clothes at a Muslim wedding? Also, we don't wear bindis and the bride is asked three times if she accepts the groom. ALSO, the NIKAH is segregated! so they missed THAT out as well.
It's just pathetic! and the gay storyline is the cherry on the cake of this crazy story.

I think people are confusing two distinct things. Things related to individuals and things related to pakistani culture and islam and the wider practices.
Yes, there are gay muslims. There are gay muslims in the closet and there are gay muslims who are open about it. And I can imagine that hormonal teengers do at least try to sneak off to suck each others faces at weddings. And although I thought it was too much given everything else that was going on, Zainab's reason to Masood for why his brother propositioned her was exactly how a lot of mulsim men think... just go through life1.
However, the things that are representative of our cultural and religious practices that are more or less the same the world over that weren't portrayed very well at all, those are dismaying. For example, the nikkah or other instances throughout their period on the show where they mix up indian practices with pakistani/muslim ones.
I must shower to cleanse myself of the fact that I just wrote an essay about Enders now.

The whole wedding was soo terrible. The dhol going thru the street, The engagment when ameera was singing (PLEASE! no bride does that)

Just some aspects of the show that I thought weren't too that great...
That kiss between tamwar and that girl was so cringeworthy! Her head totally went in to her neck and she just looked weird and stupiddddd! I just hate seeing desi's kiss on screen - seems to make it so much more disturbing to watch lol. And what was she wearing?!?!

I only watached the wedding episode, but where was Shabnam? How come she wasn't at the wedding?
The actress left cos she wasn't getting any storylines. The character's excuse was she was doing charity work in Pakistan.
I thought it was a let down too, they could of potrayed us in a better light and also it came out that masoods brother tried it on with zainab aswell....that just made us look bad aswell... Whenever Christian came on the on my mum would nod her head and say "shataan" lol

i loved the wedding in eastenders!
but eww...that kiss between tamwar and that girl was too much! that girl came across so cheap and desperate esp as she wanted to get off with tamwar! lol! poor tamwar was so confused with everything! wish shabnam would make a return to eastenders!
amira's neckline looked awful and i don't think the dress colour suited her complexion at all. i think she would have looked stunning in a lighter-colour dress. loved her look on her mendhi esp her hair. didn't like the way she wore her dupatta on the wedding day. should have had it pinned back to give a neat look.
otherwise it was a great episode.
