I’ve never made fish but I have had a lot back in Pakistan. I like the different types of fried fish. So please some one suggest a very simple recipe to try the first time.
Also, from where should I get fish & which one? I have Tesco, Londis & some desi shops nearby
You can get the frozen fish from Tesco,Iceland and Farm foods but the fresh fish is available at Asda and Sainsbury. Some local desi shops do serve the fresh fish. Also Salmon and Cod are the best ones.
This is how I make and I love it ,,it taste so yummy
2 fish peices,
2 table spoon of Besan, 1 lemon(juice),red chili I add half spoon u can use full half per your taste, pinch of black paper, ginger garlic paste 1 table spoon, salt per taste. Haldi about 2 pinch
,Make a thick paste of all above with lilttle bit of water, mix fish with it and marinade it for 15/20 mins,Then fry it keep change the both sides of fish.
I assure you the most MOST easiest and tasty recipe, believe me, you will go insane after eating it!!
Take fish (boneless is best), drain it v-well, if needed, dry it with newspaper or tissue roll.
Now take a plate, pour 1 tbspn red chilli, 1/2 tspn salt and 1 tspn (not heaped) well-grinded ajwaaen. Now mix it well. No water should be added and it should be a sookha masala. You got it?? just the powder form.
Now slightly coat the fish in masala, (DO NOT OVER-COAT) & keep it aside.
Take deep pan, add oil and heat. Take corn flour at a side, now coat your fish in corn flour (again do not over-coat) and fry it.
Dont fry more than 4-5 minutes!! <-STRICTLY RECOMMENDED
Tilapia filets r very soft and juicy. I think they r best for fried fish recipe. Take Shan Fish Seasoning masala and add 1/4 tsp of ginger garlic paste and lemon juice. Coat the filets and leave it for 1 hr. Shallow fry till the masala turns brownish. This fried fish is recipe of mine is very popular in my lahori khandaan :)
I use Shan fish masala as well and add lemon juice and ginger/garlic. Marinate tilapia filets for an hour or so and fry it. I usually bake it though and it turns out really good.
Thank you girls!!!! But I got all the replies after 1-2 days so I ended up calling up my dad in Pakistan, who is the family's fish expert. He told me a somewhat similar easy recipe. I got cod & it turned out so yummy. I'm proud of my first fish experience. Yay! Today is first chicken steak experience day :)

I marinated cod fillets in cornflour, ajwain, salt, kutti hui laal Mirch (flakes), slight yellow colour. I left it for 2-3 hours. Then fried it.
Since it was the easiest recipe, it has hardly any Ingredients ...

Ok this is how my mum cooks , one of the Bangoli fried told the receipe as Bangolis love fish.
Use lemon juice, salt, crushed red chilli, lil bit of yoghurt ,leave the fish to marinate for 1 to 2 hours. Fry it and there you go.
It's up to you if you want to use sauce for it , heat up the oil in a pan, put garlic and ginger paste , lil bit of red chilli, 2 spoon of yoghurt and salt to taste, mix it well, when it looks brown put the fried fish in it, leave it for 5 minutes then tell me how did it taste. :p
