Cashew-Stuffed Dates

Cashew-Stuffed Dates

Ingredients:
Cashews
Dates

**
Procedures:**
Cashew-stuffed dates have got to be easiest to prepare dessert ever. Just buy a box of whole pitted dates from the supermarket, along with a pack of whole cashew nuts. Insert a cashew nut inside the date through the slit were the pit came out. Arrange in a platter and serve or store in a glass jar and give as gifts.

Coffee Delight

Ingredients
Caramel pudding packet: 2
Marie biscuits. 1 and half pack
Coffee: 2tbsp & 1tsp
Sugar: 6tbsp
Powder Milk: 8tbsp
Cream: 2 packs of 300 ml
Cold milk: 2 cups

Method:

  1. Take a luke warm water in a small bowl (just 1/4 fills) and dissolve 1 tsp coffee in it. Then in this mixture put marie biscuit one by one and line in a straight Pyrex or marinex dish that is freezer safe. I the water finishes you can again make same mixture.
  2. In a blender add cold milk caramel pudding and sugar and blend it.
  3. When done add sugar, coffee and powder milk and blend thoroughly.
  4. At the end add 1 pack of 300 ml cream in it nd blend. It will make a mixture which would be lightly thickened kind of fluid.
  5. Pour it over the biscuits base that was lined and put it in freezer for 3 to 4 hours.
  6. Whip the other 300 ml pack of cream and garnish over the dish 30 mins before serving. Put again in freezer after pouring cream.

Mix a pint of sour cream and 16 oz can of fruit cocktail. Add walnuts. This is a 2 minute dessert for surprise guests.

Raania: one of the best desserts for summer is fresh fruits: can’t go wrong with fresh fruit platters. Sliced ripe mangoes are a killer dessert.

Re: Easiest dessert recipes!

This is the easiest dessert ever…it comes together in seconds and is a crowd pleaser always:

You’ll need the following ingredients:

Take the whipped topping out of the freezer and let it soften a little…add the powder instant pudding and stir well (it will take on a luscious pistachio green color!) now add the crushed pineapple (drain off the juice from the can or else it will be too runny), the sweetened flaked coconut and whatever crushed nuts you are using (pecans or walnuts).

Once you have everything combined well, put it back in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. You can either keep in one serving dish and let people spoon out their own servings in bowls or you can get a little fancy and make individual parfait cups by layering this over cubes of sponge cake or pound cake…either way it’s delish!!!

Re: Easiest dessert recipes!

Wut is this. Why do desis think throwing a bunch of stuff together in a bowl constitutes a good dessert. Every davat I attended in Pakistan had the same dessert. If you’re gonna use trifle ingredients, at least respect them enough to make it properly. Raise the bar people. At least desserts can be made the day before and even baking is a only a 30-40 min job to whip up a cake.

Re: Easiest dessert recipes!

I completely agree with you…when I make my trifles, everything is made from scratch, including the whipped cream, pound cake, fruit component, etc…however, there’s nothing wrong with keeping one or two quick fix recipes in your repertoire for when last minute guests or dawats pop up unannounced. And I don’t think it’s an exclusive desi thing. The recipe I have above my Ammi plucked from a Good Housekeeping magazine in the late 70’s/early 80’s.

Re: Easiest dessert recipes!

I dunno. I haven’t had these kind of desserts anywhere except in Pakistani households and almost exclusively only when I go to Pakistan since adulthood. I agree that there is nothing wrong with a few quick fix recipes but there’s loads that can be done that doesn’t look like someone puked up in a dish and is a mish-mash of flavours. I guess I am into simplicity if pressed for time.

If I’m really* that* pushed for time or unprepared, store bought desserts do the trick. Oh but then one can’t do ‘I am amazing desi housewife, look how much I made’ thing.

Here is what I made with the above recipe…It was a last minute dawat, I had all the staples in my pantry and I think the end result turned out extremely sophisticated…

Re: Easiest dessert recipes!

there’s an italian dessert called affogato! it’s great for anyone who loves coffee and icecream.
you make an espresso or strong coffee. i usually take 1/2 tablespoon of instant coffee crystals with 1 cup of water and let it boil. as soon as it boils, remove from the heat.
scoop out some delicious vanilla or vanilla bean icecream (or any other one of your choice) and pour the strong coffee over it. it is amazing.

Re: Easiest dessert recipes!

another one that you can make very quickly but you need at least 4 hours of chill time is chocolate fudge. this serves about 10 people easily. just depends on the serving glass/cup you use.

You need: 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
4 large eggs, at room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
1 cup very hot strong coffee
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons sugar

put the chocolate chips, eggs, vanilla and salt in the blender and pulse a few times. the chocolate chips should almost be halved or quartered, but not completely gone.
with the blender on, pour in the hot coffee. the coffee will melt the chocolate and turn it into a smooth mixture.

pour the mixture into small glasses or appetizer cups/glasses. (its a heavy dessert, so you don’t want too much of it). chill for 3 hours and serve with whip cream on top.

Re: Easiest dessert recipes!

You can never go wrong with the fruit and cream combo!
fruit can be fresh or tinned, and cream can be single, double or whipped.
just pour cream over the fruit and serve chilled
You can add cold custard to the side aswell, so sort of like a flan, without the flan lol
