Re: Earthquake in pakistan

I have a question:

Why first America and now pakistan?

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Why Guatemala?

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

I agree, mashallah se people have xome together and shown that they are so incredibly couragous

It's so heartwrenching to see people suffering and we should all pray for them as well as donate whatever we can.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

What’s that?

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

TNWB, yesterday, over 500 people died in Guatemala and Mexico (Central and South America). There are fears that it was actually over 1000 people who lost their lives due to a tropical storm and Hurricane Stan.

This past year, there have been so many natural disasters, hurricanes, flooding/drought in Europe and now this in Pakistan. It's terrifying just to watch it on the news. I can't even imagine what these people are going through.

Like I have said before, I'm amazed and touched at how people are in general coming together to rescue and help victims instead of watching on the side lines.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Guatemala is a PLACE. Its a country. In Central America...the big strip of land that connects North America and South America.

Woman. Brush up on geography!

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Seeing the Pakistani civilian response in the rescue efforts, I feel very PROUD to be a Pakistani today.

18,000 dead! Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajai'oon

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

^ Well said. The people working their heads off in rescue efforts while fasting is absolutely commendable. It wastime to show unity and we sure did that.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

I was searching for what aid has been provided by other countries (other than Red crescent, ofcourse) but could not find. Anyone can provide a link?

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Turkey: 40 airplane loads filled with supplies.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

The British team is already on site and working - they pulled out two survivors alive from last I heard. The Chinese team with their sniffer dogs are on their way.

Turkeys’ Red Cresent is going. US and Russia have also pledged aid. India also said it’s willing to work together with Pak in this disaster esp. with regards to the devastation in Kashmir.

Musharraf meanwhile went on TV and asked for Pakistanis abroad to help out financially, as well as to other countries.

That’s all I can recall for now.

May we all keep them in our prayers. May Allah (swt) help them through this.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

US pledged $100,000 and the UK £100,000

pitiful

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Slow down Hiccy, the US made the pledge long before the extent of devastation was known. US is also sending supplies, copters etc. This, even with all the troubles at home in New Orleans that are being handled so poorly. Not to worry though, I'm sure more money, volunteers and supples will be forthcoming.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

China has pledged US $ 6.2 Mil in emergency aid.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Im sure the President has Satallite TV. The extent has been known by near to all literate for quite some time. Both my country, and yours  have donated stupidly low amounts.

2 TV channels in the UK raised £250,000 in the last day alone. I think that speaks for itself. More than the US and the UK combined.

I am not personally attacking you.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

u r right ALLAHMDOLIAH we know how help ourselve. very proud on country fellows .

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

http://www.cnn.com/

Check out the ‘Pakistan president appeals for aid’ link. “Oh it’s just 34 hours…”… People around the world knew how huge the disaster was within a few hours of when it happened. And he says, “Oh it’s just 34 hours…” What planet is he living in? With this kind of laid back attitude, alot of aid he will get.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Put his response in the context of the severity of destruction & death toll (an initial estimate of 15000+ people), size of the area affected and limited Pakistani resources.
